The Port of Tacoma hired Darren Arakaki as director of accounting for the port's finance department. Arakaki was retail controller for London Fog Industries in Seattle, and vice president of finance and operations for Sentire in Renton. The Port of Tacoma handles more than $26 billion in trade each year.

Financial expert Stephen Land recently joined Redmond's FCS Group as a project manager. Land will support FCS Group's management consulting practice and work with municipal clients. Land was in the public sector for 15 years and managed budgets for Seattle's Department of Planning and Design.
Kim Stanbery retired as president of Tacoma-based Forte Transportation Logistics Corp. Bruce Buchanan, former vice president of operations, will take over the position. Forte is a logistics company that works to help businesses improve the way they transport goods. The company has 900 clients in North America and Europe.

Avalara, a provider of sales tax calculation packages, named business development managers: Kevin Hunter, Pat Falle, Thomas Bemiller, Del Ross, John Binda, Matt Ingebrigtsen and Matt Scoble, and Kurt Kauper. Avalara is headquartered on Bainbridge Island.
Seattle-based Dwango Wireless, a developer of entertainment content, recently released audio voice tones from hip-hop artists Styles P and Sheek Louch, members of the LOX and D-Block. The exclusive content deal was done through digital record label INgrooves.
Reeltime Rentals has joined the Amazon.com affiliate program. Reeltime will earn a percentage of revenue from DVD sales driven from ReelTimeTV.net to Amazon.com. Seattle-based Amazon will manage inventory and shipping costs. Reeltime is headquartered in Bellevue.
The Port of Kalama commissioners elected Fred Swanson as president for 2005. He will be the port's delegate to the Washington Public Ports Association and the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments. Milford Westin will be the commission's vice president and Jim Lucas will be secretary.
