Former Congressman George R. Nethercutt, Jr. and former U.S. Department of the Interior Deputy Secretary J. Steven Griles will join The Lundquist Group, a Washington, D.C.-based lobbying firm. It is headed by former White House national energy policy director Andrew D. Lundquist and will be renamed Lundquist, Nethercutt & Griles. The company will guide private sector clients in strategic and government relations.
The board of directors of the Greater Renton Chamber of Commerce appointed Sara Garner vice president of operations. Garner was the chamber's communications and marketing director, and has been interim president since president and chief executive officer Suzette Cooke resigned. Garner worked on the city of Renton's centennial celebration, and also managed operations at KBLE-AM radio in Seattle.

Online directory assistance provider W3 Data named Patrick Kirtland vice president of its W3 Data Solutions division. Kirtland will oversee strategic direction, and sales and marketing. Kirtland directed new business at Cranium and worked in product marketing at Etrieve Corp. W. Scott Wert joined the Seattle office of Stoel Rives and practices in the real estate group. He has represented U.S. and foreign groups in asset and stock acquisitions, and corporate and commercial issues. Stoel Rives is a business law firm with 375 lawyers in Oregon, Washington, California, Utah and Idaho.
Swedish Medical Center announced its freestanding emergency room and specialty center at 2005 N.W. Sammamish Road will open on March 1. Built to the same standards as a hospital-based emergency room, it will run 24 hours a day and have a diagnostic imaging center with CT scan, MRI, ultrasound and X-ray capacities. John Milne will be responsible for emergency room physicians and will be community liaison. The clinical care manager will be Kathleen Emde. Swedish Medical Center has hospital campuses in First Hill, Providence and Ballard.
Public relations firm Edelman promoted Melanie Wilhoite to executive vice president and general manager of its Seattle office. Wilhoite was a co-founder of the company's Seattle office and has 18 years' experience in technology related public relations, communications and journalism.
