The Hotel Group

Edmonds-based The Hotel Group named Stan Kott general manager of the planned Arctic Club Hotel Seattle. Kott has directed the Salish Lodge & Spa and Kimpton Hotel's Alexis Hotel and Hotel Monaco. The Arctic Club Hotel will be a 120-room downtown hotel and should open in early 2008. It is owned by Spokane-based developers Bill Lawson, Chris Ashenbrener and Rob Brewster and will be managed by The Hotel Group.

Parity Corp.

Bothell-based Parity Corp. promoted Tom Williams to president. Williams succeeds Parity founder Arvid Tellevik, who will remain as chief executive officer. Williams has been vice president of the consulting team for seven years. Parity delivers food industry software and services.

The Seattle office of Rust Consulting hired Rob Taylor-Manning as business development consultant. He has 15 years of experience practicing law. Rust Consulting, headquartered in Minneapolis, consults in liability matters.

Washington Banking Co.

Washington Banking Co. promoted John L. (Jack) Wagner to president and chief executive officer of the Whidbey Island Bank subsidiary. Mike Cann, who was president and CEO of both Washington Banking Co. and Whidbey Island Bank, will remain in that role for the holding company. Wagner joined Whidbey Island Bank in 1999. Washington Banking is based in Oak Harbor.

Business Leadership Awards

UW Tacoma's Milgard School of Business chose four local businesspeople to receive Business Leadership Awards in May. George H. Weyerhaeuser of Weyerhaeuser will receive the lifetime achievement award. Ray Tennison of Simpson Investment Co. will receive the business leader of the year award. Joe Stortini of Joeseppi's Restaurant in Westgate will receive the small business leader award. Bob Ecklund of the YMCA of Tacoma-Pierce County will receive the nonprofit business leader of the year award.

Washington Department of Revenue

The Federation of Tax Administrators said Janetta Taylor of the Washington Department of Revenue won its 2007 FTA Award for Leadership and Service. Taylor, assistant director of the Taxpayer Account Administration Division, streamlined the business registration process and improved internal controls and security. The federation is a nonprofit whose mission is to improve standards and methods of tax administration.

Seattle-based HomeTeam, creator of the television program of the same name, named Stephen J. Cohen president. He has more than 35 years of experience in media consulting and marketing, and is the recipient of four Emmy awards for excellence in news. HomeTeam creates TV programming, real estate affinity partnerships and Web-based technologies.

Jones Soda

Seattle-based Jones Soda Co. appointed Peter Burns to senior executive vice president, sales and marketing. Burns was with Izze Beverage Co. as vice president, sales. Jones Soda sells soda across North America.

Joe's Sports, Outdoor & More

Joe's Sports, Outdoor & More opened new stores in Bellevue at 699 120th Ave. N.E. and in Kirkland at 12321 120th Place N.E. Both were Larry's Markets. The openings coincide with the company's 55th anniversary and the official change of name from G.I. Joe's to Joe's. The additions bring Joe's total number of stores to 27 throughout Oregon and Washington. Joe's is headquartered in Willsonville, Ore.
