Seattle Board of Park Commissioners

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels is looking for a new member to serve on the seven-person Board of Park Commissioners. The board makes recommendations to the superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation on planning, development and use of parks and recreation space. Candidates will spend 25 to 30 hours a month on business and should be interested in youth programs, aquatics or community recreation centers. Group Health Cooperative

Group Health Cooperative hired Richard Magnuson as chief financial officer. Magnuson has been CFO at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Vermont and at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minnesota. Group Health is a Seattle-based nonprofit health care system.

Plum Creek Timber

Plum Creek Timber Co. promoted Thomas M. Lindquist to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Lindquist joined the company in 2001 as executive vice president. Plum Creek Timber is a national private landowner based in Seattle.

Diego

Kirkland-based Digeo, a provider of media platforms, made two promotions. Chauncey Gammage is vice president of human resources. Michael Luce is vice president of quality assurance.

Puget Sound Health Alliance

The Puget Sound Health Alliance appointed Michelle D. Seelig, clinical research executive and board-certified physician, as director of health information. Seelig has worked at Health Benchmarks. The Puget Sound Health Alliance is a nonprofit that works to improve the quality of patient care at an affordable price.

Liberty Northwest Insurance

Larry W. Becker has been promoted to president and chief operating officer for Portland-based Liberty Northwest Insurance, a member of Liberty Mutual Group. Becker was executive vice president, sales and marketing. He succeeds Matthew D. Nickerson, who was appointed senior vice president for Liberty Mutual Agency Markets, a business unit of Liberty Mutual Group. Liberty Northwest Insurance is a private workers' compensation insurer.

Washington Employment Security

The Washington Employment Security Department hired Carl Smith as director of its Seattle-King County WorkSource area. Smith will manage employment services at WorkSource offices in Seattle and King County. He has been an organizational and human-resource consultant for 20 years.

NPower

Nonprofit NPower has appointed Paul Lambert to the Seattle board of directors. Lambert is practice director at Seattle-based Point B Solutions Group, a local professional services firm. He joins nine other members of the NPower Seattle Board. NPower Seattle is the founding member of the NPower national network, a group of 12 independent organizations across the U.S.

Brown Bear Car Wash

Brown Bear Car Washes owner Vic Odermat was inducted into the Car Wash Hall of Fame at the International Carwash Association's Car Care World Expo 2007. Odermat was cited for his vision and commitment to the industry, his employees and civic activities. Brown Bear opened in Seattle in 1957 and now owns and operates 39 car washes in the Puget Sound area and Spokane. The International Carwash Association is a non-profit trade association.
