National Association of State Treasurers

The National Association of State Treasurers presented the Harlan Boyles Distinguished Service Award to Washington State Treasurer Michael J. Murphy. The award is the organization's most prestigious honor and recognizes achievement in public service and community stewardship. Murphy has been a regional vice president four times.

Northwest Energy Efficiency Council

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Council announced Thea Smith has earned her building operator certification, level one. Smith is an environmental protection specialist with NOAA Northwest Fisheries Science Center in Seattle. Operators earn BOC certification by completing seven months of classroom and hands-on training.

Small Business Development Centers

The Washington State Small Business Development Centers announced it will join the Washington State University Economic Development and Extension office, lead by newly appointed Vice President John C. Gardner. The center has been hosted by WSU's College of Business for 27 years. Both groups aim for the new affiliation to increase visibility of economic development work. The center provides business advising and training in 23 satellite offices.

Riddell Williams

Seattle law firm Riddell Williams hired Erin Watanabe Croman as a first-year associate in the Corporate Transactions Team. She received her law degree from the University of Washington.

Stoel Rives

Law firm Stoel Rives hired John M. Eustermann as a principal in its Boise office. Eustermann has 10 years experience and will work in the Renewable Energy Team. Stoel Rives is based in Portland.

King County Council

King County Councilmember Reagan Dunn hired former county council member Steve Hammond to his district staff. Hammond will work on agricultural issues and represent Dunn at agricultural meetings. Hammond served on the King County Council from 2003 to 2005.

Pilot Corp.

Pilot Corp., a Knoxville-based operator of travel centers, has opened a new center in Tumwater at 2430 93rd Ave. S.W., off Interstate 5 at exit 99. The new 9,700-square-foot center has eight fuel islands, eight diesel islands, a CAT scale, 90 truck parking spaces and seven showers. It also includes McDonald's and Subway restaurants, Western Union, laundry facilities, audio book rentals, news publications and a deli. Pilot has 290 locations in 40 states.

Hadley Green Creates

Seattle-based Hadley Green Creates, a full service marketing agency, hired Ross Cattelan as interactive design director and Marilyn Orozco as copy/production editor and project coordinator. Cattelan has design experience from online to print, including environmental graphic design. Orozco has worked with Microsoft, Landor, MRM Worldwide and Fitch.

Vcfo

The Seattle office of Vcfo hired Terrence Niehaus as controller associate. Niehaus has 25 years of experience in the financial industry. He worked as controller at Electronics Group. Vcfo also opened a new office in Bellevue at 11911 N.E. First., Suite 308. Vcfo is based in Austin, Texas, and provides financial and human resources services.

Heller Ehrman

Law firm Heller Ehrman announced Leonard Feldman has been elected chair of the King County Bar Association Appellate Practice Section. Feldman heads the Appeals and Strategy Group in Heller Ehrman's Seattle office.
