Gary Robinson, director of the Washington State Department of Information Services, was elected secretary/treasurer of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers at the NASCIO annual conference. NASCIO is a national network and resource for executive-level information technology leadership.
Seattle-based One Reel, a Seattle non-profit arts and cultural organization, hired Beth Wojick as executive director of business development. Wojick was vice president of corporate partnerships with the Seahawks. One Reel produces Teatro ZinZanni and Bumbershoot.
Seven Salon will open what it calls the largest salon in the Pacific Northwest in downtown Seattle at Pacific Place in February. Seven is relocating to the 8,000-square-foot space in Pacific Place from its current location in the Grand Hyatt. The new space will have 51 chairs.

David L. Johnson, a retired Air Force brigadier general, was hired by Seattle-based Coastal Environmental Systems. Johnson was assistant administrator of weather services for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration where he directed the national weather system. At Coastal Environmental, he will help create new products that respond to changes in civil aviation technology and the application of weather systems for civil and military aviation.
The eighth-annual Costco Scholarship Fund Breakfast raised almost $2.8 million for underrepresented students to attend Seattle University and the University of Washington this year. The fund was created by Jim Sinegal, president and CEO of Costco, and Jeff Brotman, Costco chairman of the board.
Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler is opening a second store at 600 Union St. in Seattle. The 3,000-square-foot space includes a showroom, private function room and a “watch lab.” Alvin Goldfarb Jeweler is based in Bellevue.
Kibble & Prentice, an insurance and financial services company, hired John Feltz as vice president. Feltz will oversee the Middle Market Consulting Group, which provides commercial insurance, professional liability and employee benefit services to emerging businesses. He has 10 years experience in health insurance and worked at Healthcare Management Administrators.

Columbia Bank in Tacoma announced Kevin Meabon and Kit Gerwels were promoted to vice president and Michelle Hill was promoted to assistant vice president. Meabon and Gerwels were commercial banking officers. Hill was a bank security manager.
Greg Sparks, president of the Seattle Division of Safeway, will accept the 2007 Thomas Medal from Nobel laureate Lee Hartwell, president and director of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
