Seattle City Light

Seattle City Light hired Phil Leiber as chief financial officer. Leiber was the CFO of the California Independent System Operator, the operator for most of that state's electric transmission grid serving 30 million customers.

Columbia Bank

Columbia Bank hired Scott Hamilton as vice president and deposit relationship manager. Hamilton has 20 years experience with financial services companies and has worked at Washington Mutual, Citibank Global Cash & Trade Services and was the publisher of Destination: Puget Sound magazine. At Columbia Bank, he will work on the Cash Management Team.

Lane Powell

Jennifer Wyatt, a member of Lane Powell's Labor and Employment Practice Group, has been appointed vice-chair of the American Bar Association's Young Lawyers Division Ethics and Professionalism Committee for 2009-2010. The committee explores useful ways in which lawyers can be made more conscious of their ethical and broader professional obligations.

SBA Seattle District

The U.S. Small Business Administration's Seattle District Office named Rory Lee Nay, president of Proto Technologies, as the 2009 Washington State Small Business Person of the Year. Proto Technologies is a rapid prototyping service bureau. A celebration honoring SBA small business winners will be held April 23 at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall in Seattle Center.

Coinstar

Bellevue-based Coinstar hired Gregg Kaplan, former chief executive officer of Redbox Automated Retail, as president and chief operating officer. He succeeds Paul Davis, who became chief executive officer and was named to the board of directors. Coinstar also announced John Harvey, chief financial officer of Redbox, will succeed Brian Turner, chief financial officer of Coinstar, starting on June 1. Mitch Lowe, chief operating officer of Redbox and one of the founding senior executives at Netflix, will take over the leadership of Redbox in the role of president. Dora Summers-Ewing, most recently principal and senior client partner of Korn/Ferry International, has been named chief people officer at Coinstar.

Departure Restaurant + Lounge has opened in Portland on the 15th floor of the Nines Hotel. Bryan Emperor, recently from New York City and Virginia, is the chef.

CarterBaldwin

CarterBaldwin, an executive search firm, is expanding its service in Seattle. Partner Terry Addington leads the new Seattle team. Addington was previously president and CEO of First Cellular of Southern Illinois. CarterBaldwin is expanding in the Pacific Northwest to better serve existing clients like Morticity and T-Mobile.

The Anviron Holding

Seattle-based The Anviron Holding Co., a manufacturer and marketer of clean and green chemical products and technology, promoted Steve Young to chief executive officer and director effective immediately. Young has been president and chief operating officer of the company since its forming in 2008.
