Great City Initiative

The Great City Initiative named Joshua Curtis as executive director. Curtis has been involved with Great City for three years as a volunteer, board member and co-chair. He replaces Michael McGinn, who resigned as executive director to run for mayor of Seattle.

WSU

The Washington State University Research Foundation and The University Funds, a venture capital fund and business accelerator, have agreed to collaborate in creating new ventures based upon research at WSU. The collaboration will accelerate commercialization of intellectual property developed at WSU with The University Funds.

Intermec

Everett-based Intermec hired Ian Snadden as vice president of sales, Europe, Middle East and Africa region. Snadden has 20 years of technology sales management experience. He previously worked at Unisys UK.

Kathy Casey

Seattle chef Kathy Casey and her business partner and husband, John Casey, will relocate their Food Studios and Liquid Kitchen Headquarters this summer. The food studio will move from Ballard to a 2,300-square-foot location in Salmon Bay Marine Center. Casey will relocate her consulting services to the space, use it for research and development, team building classes and special events. Casey also announces the launch of her new book, “Sips and Apps.”

TMP Worldwide

New York's TMP Worldwide Advertising & Communications, an independent recruitment advertising agency, hired Sandy Haeberle as vice president. Haeberle will work out of the TMP Seattle office. She previously worked for regional and national health care organizations.

SBA

Christine Heckert, senior vice president at First Heritage Bank in Snohomish, was named the Washington State Financial Services Champion of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration. Heckert has worked in the SBA industry for 20 years and joined First Heritage in 2007, heading the bank's SBA department.

Sound Community Bank

Sound Community Bank, a subsidiary of Sound Financial, is purchasing the Port Angeles Office of 1st Security Bank of Washington. Sound Community Bank will acquire the 1st Security deposits, deposit-related loans and the branch facility at 1405 E. Front St. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the second quarter.

Eakins
Berk & Associates, a public policy and management consult, promoted Michele Eakins to be administrative manager. Before Berk, she worked for Paccar and McCune, Godfrey & Emerick. Berk also hired Lynnette Bradbury as business manager. She previously worked for Blink Interactive and Werkhaus Creative Communications.

Vulcan

Vulcan Inc. hired Martha Fuller as executive vice president of finance. Fuller has been acting chief financial officer since November. Previously, she was chief financial officer of the Seahawks.

Society of Certified Public Accountants

The Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants chose Pete Miller, a principal in Clark Nuber's audit practice, to receive the 2008-2009 Chapter President of the Year Award for outstanding leadership, enthusiasm and commitment to the Bellevue Chapter. Miller is president of the chapter.
