Kent Downtown Partnership

The Kent Downtown Partnership hired Barbara Smith as executive director. She is replacing Jacquie Alexander, who retired in June. Smith was director of the Grays Harbor County's Tourism Department.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

The Puget Sound affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure hired Elisa Del Rosario as program manager. Del Rosario will oversee the grant-making process and community outreach. She is a breast cancer survivor, has 20 years of management experience in health and human services, and spent 12 years as capital campaign and development director for Seattle's Asian Counseling and Referral Service.

National Association of Corporate Directors

The National Association of Corporate Directors announced J. Shan Mullin, a partner with Perkins Coie in Seattle, has been named the nonprofit director of the year for decades of work for nonprofit organizations in the Pacific Northwest. Mullin has served on committees or boards for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, the Life Science Discovery Fund for the State of Washington, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and UW Medicine.

After a national search, KCTS 9 has hired Beth Savage as its new vice president of development. Savage has 17 years of experience and has worked for KETC/Channel 9, St. Louis PBS, Saint Louis Science Center and Southern Illinois University.

Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson

The Seattle law firm of Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson hired Philip Bednar as an attorney. Bednar worked as a certified public accountant before law school and was a law clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Kinnear Park

Lower Kinnear Park is becoming revitalized. Friends of Lower Kinnear Park or FOLKPark, a recently formed community group chaired by Debi Frausto, wants to secure further improvements with funding from city grants and other community resources. Stoel Rives

Law firm Stoel Rives hired Jeffry Hodges and John Laney to its Seattle office. Hodges is an associate in the Employee Benefits Group, practices in the area of executive compensation and employee benefits, and was an associate at Baker Botts in Houston. Laney is an associate in the Corporate Practice Group, has experience with Stimulus Act funding for renewable energy projects and was a senior account executive with HSBC, Consumer Lending prior to law school.

Pacific Fishermen Shipyard

Pacific Fishermen Shipyard and Electric in Seattle hired Tom Harbin as shipyard manager. Serving as ship superintendent, Harbin came to Pacific Fishermen with the closure of Marco Seattle Shipyard in 2006 and has helped to double the yard's repair, repower and conversion business.

Kibble & Prentice

Kibble & Prentice opened a new practice providing risk management services. Headed by John Sacia, executive vice president, the company has added three specialists to the team, including Seth Shapiro, Greg Skorheim and Paula Davis. Sacia has 40 years of experience in the insurance brokerage industry, and joined the company in 2008.
