Marilynn Sheldon, managing director of the 5th Avenue Theatre since 1988, will be stepping down by the end of this year to retire. She will continue to advise the board and management until her current contract expires at the end of 2010. Sheldon began working at the theatre in 1980 as a box office treasurer, then became general manager before becoming managing director.
The Seattle Hotel Association, a nonprofit organization that promotes Seattle's hospitality industry, announced its 2009-2010 board of directors. Julia Schroeder, managing director of Hotel Andra, is president; Howard Cohen, vice president/general manager of Clise Properties' hotel division, is vice president; Don Dennis, general manager of Hotel Deca, is treasurer; and David Sullivan, general manager of the Pan Pacific Hotel, is secretary.
Aronson Security Group promoted Mike Kobelin to vice president of sales and marketing. Kobelin has been in the security market for 25 years and helped lead a merger between Aronson and Selectron in 2008.

Kirkland-based Hodgson/Meyers, a marketing communications agency, hired Clare Chapple as project manager. Chapple has worked in production management, creative services management, and project management at Nordstrom, Stimson-Lane and Attachmate.
City University of Seattle is expanding its international presence in Asia with the recent signing of seven articulation agreements with partner institutions in China, the Philippines and Thailand. The articulation agreements are with the University of International Business and Economics, Macau University of Science and Technology, Zhongkai University of Agriculture and Engineering, Guangdong University of Business Studies and Shenzhen Polytechnic. CityU gives students the opportunity to transfer to CityU in Bellevue to complete their undergraduate and/or pursue graduate studies.
Integral Technologies of Bellingham hired Mohamad Zeidan as a consultant. Zeidan has 25 years of experience in automotive engineering and engineering management. He worked at Lear Corp. and Hybrid Engineering.

Bruce Laing has been appointed chair of the King County Board of Ethics, filling the position left vacant by Dr. Lois Price Spratlen when her term expired on July 31. Laing's three-year term will expire on July 31, 2012. He previously served on the King County Council from 1979 to 1995.
Sterling Life Insurance of Bellingham hired Michael Muchnicki as president and chief executive officer. Muchnicki succeeds Debbie Ahl in both posts, who retired at the end of July. Muchnicki was president and chief executive officer of Touchstone Health Partnership in New York.
The University of Phoenix Western Washington Campus hired Maria Burrows as corporate education liaison manager for the university's Western Washington Campus learning centers in Tukwila, Tacoma and Bellevue. Burrows was sales manager for Human Resources, Inc.
