Monument Policy Group, a bipartisan government relations and strategic consulting firm, and Nyhus Communications, a strategic communications and advocacy firm, have formed a new partnership to offer clients a combination of government relations, lobbying, strategic communications and advocacy expertise. The firms share offices in Washington, D.C., and Seattle.
Marten Law elected Jessica Ferrell partner and named Svend Brandt-Erichsen managing partner of the Seattle office. Ferrell's practice focuses on environmental and natural resource litigation. She represents public and private clients. Brandt-Erichsen represents energy clients with development, operation and litigation, and chairs the Climate Change Practice Group.
Ken Eastwell, a professor in the Washington State University Department of Plant Pathology at the Irrigated Agriculture Research and Extension Center in Prosser, has been appointed director of the Clean Plant Center of the Northwest. Eastwell works to develop deciduous fruit trees, grapevines and hops that are free of viruses and virus-like agents. The National Clean Plant Network is an industry-driven program.

Seattle-based law firm Oles Morrison Rinker & Baker named attorney Renea Saade a partner. Saade is an employment law attorney.

Wells Fargo promoted Tim Brown to senior vice president and regional manager for the Seattle Regional Commercial Banking Office. Brown will lead a team of 18 commercial banking professionals. Brown has 15 years of experience, and was recently senior vice president and loan team leader at the Bellevue RCBO.
Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason hired Jane Buckner as associate director, a position created to support the institute's growth in the last several years. Buckner will provide leadership support for the Kenneth R. Wilske Center for Translational Research at Virginia Mason, and oversight of BRI Business Development and Core Laboratories. Buckner is also BRI program director for translational research and a principal investigator. She joined the institute in 1999.

James Albertson is moving Top Tier Training and Development from Tukwila to Seattle. The new office is at 2815 Eastlake Ave. E., Suite 150. Top Tier provides sales and sales management training. Albertson has 20 years of experience in the field.
Seattle Symphony hired Alexander Velinzon as the David & Amy Fulton Concertmaster. Velinzon is assistant concertmaster of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2005. He will begin his new role in Seattle in June. Velinzon succeeds Maria Larionoff, who stepped down from the Seattle Symphony concertmaster role at the end of the 2010–2011 season.
The Foundation for Early Learning said Don Stark is board chair. Stark was a founding partner of the public affairs firm Gogerty Stark Marriott. Clyde Walker will continue to serve on the board as immediate past chair.
