The Graduate School at Western Washington University appointed Kathleen Kitto as acting vice provost for research and acting dean. Kitto was associate dean of Western's college of sciences and technology, and a professor of engineering technology.

Tacoma-based Tote, Inc., hired James Armstrong as president for Tote Logistics. Armstrong worked as senior vice president of warehousing at Yusen Logistics. Tote oversees five companies in maritime, logistics and shipping management.

Law firm Lane Powell appointed Kay Lennon as the young lawyers chair of the Washington State Bar Association taxation section. Lennon practices estate planning, estate and trust administration and taxation.
Seattle-based SpaceCurve hired John Slitz as CEO. Slitz was CEO of Systems Research and Development, acquired by IBM. SpaceCurve tracks the locations of entities in space and time and identifies relationships between them.

Chef Michael Mina hired Chef Seisuke (Seis) Kamimura as executive chef at RN74 Seattle. Kamimura graduated from the French Culinary Institute in New York City and has 20 years of experience in hospitality. RN74 specializes in French food and wine.
Seattle-based Max Sacks International hired Dr. James Chitwood as president of the Max Sacks Chicago division. Chitwood has 12 years of experience in sales and management. Max Sacks provides services to increase sales productivity.
Glenn A. Cutler, public works and utilities director for the city of Port Angeles, was named a national public works leadership fellow by the American Public Works Association. Cutler has worked for Port Angeles since 1999.
Governor Chris Gregoire appointed Darrin T. Grondel director of the Washington Traffic Safety Commission. Grondel has 20 years of experience in law enforcement, including as captain and commanding officer of Washington State Patrol's Commercial Vehicle Division.
