Estate Planning Council

Char

The Estate Planning Council of Seattle appointed Patricia Char of K&L Gates as president. Joining Char is immediate past president Mitchell Maurer with AXA Advisors; vice president Joan Albee with Wellspring Group P.S.; treasurer Michael Vranizan at Joslin Capital Advisors and secretary P. Gerry Maurer with Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. The council focuses on estate planning issues.

Committee for Ethical Judicial Campaigns

Hunter

Scarlett Hunter, an associate with Seattle law firm Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt, was elected to the Washington Committee for Ethical Judicial Campaigns. Hunter focuses her practice on product and commercial litigation. The committee is a non-partisan group dedicated to preserving the integrity of the judicial system.

Seattle Rotary

Paul Ishii, general manager of the Mayflower Park Hotel, is president of Seattle Rotary for the 2012-2012 term. Ishii has been a Seattle Rotary member since 1998. Seattle Rotary was founded in 1909.

Margaret Cerrato-Blue has returned to Seattle-based Riddell Williams as an associate attorney. Cerrato-Blue practices insurance recovery law. Prior to re-joining Riddell she worked as a sole practitioner with an emphasis on civil litigation law.

Seattle law firm Stokes Lawrence hired attorney Beth Golub to the employment practice group. Golub had started her own consulting practice, Resolution & Results, where she focused on workplace investigations and training. She has more than 10 years experience in employment litigation and prosecution.

King County

King County Executive Dow Constantine named David Chapman public defense director in the Office of Public Defense for the Department of Community and Human Services. Chapman has 30 years of criminal justice experience and most recently worked in private practice. The department assists low-income and special needs people.

Michael Fleming of the Lane Powell law firm was appointed chairman of the board of directors at Seattle-based Jones Soda Co. Fleming has been a board member since 1997. Jones Soda markets and distributes beverages across North America.

Benaroya Research Institute

Lane

Benaroya Research Institute promoted Homer Lane Jr. to executive director and he will also service as vice president for research at Virginia Mason Medical Center. Lane joined Benaroya in 2011 as chief financial officer and chief administrative officer. Benaroya is an immune and autoimmune disease research organization.

Dendreon

Seattle-based Dendreon Corp. said John Johnson, president and CEO, is now also chairman of the board. Johnson succeeds Dr. Mitchell Gold, who will continue to serve as director. Dendreon is a biotech company focused on cancer.
