Red Lion Hotels is opening a franchise in Cathedral City, Calif., at 69151 E. Palm Canyon Dr. The new hotel has 97 rooms and is managed by Sang Chae and Connie Chae of WR Management Co. in Bellevue. Red Lion Hotels owns, operates and franchises hotels.

KPLU/Pacific Public Media hired Erik Nycklemoe as general manager, succeeding Paul Stankavish effective Feb. 4, 2013. Nycklemoe worked at American Public Media Group in St. Paul. KPLU provides local and National Public Radio news on 88.5.

The Seattle City Council's Government Performance and Finance Committee appointed Angelique Davis to the civil service commission. Davis is a former assistant city attorney and Seattle University professor of political science.
