HomeStreet Bank

Seattle-based HomeStreet Bank opened a branch in Fremont at 3417 Evanston Ave N. The grand opening is scheduled for Feb. 27 from 4-6 p.m.

State Attorney General

Attorney General Bob Ferguson named Kendee Yamaguchi director of Policy, Legislative Affairs and External Relations. Yamaguchi was executive director of the Washington State Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, and previously worked in the Clinton White House as a director in the Office of Management and Administration, and in the Office of Public Liaison.

Betts Patterson & Mines

Seattle-based law firm Betts Patterson & Mines announced the re-election of Lawrence Gottlieb to another three-year term as the firm's managing shareholder. Gottlieb joined the firm as a director in 2006 and was elected managing shareholder in 2009.

University Book Store

Seattle's University Book Store hired Eileen Harte as events coordinator. Harte worked at Helen Harte, Bookseller, her mother's antiquarian Irish book business and Barnes & Noble where she organized book signings, handled merchandising campaigns, and worked with publishers, authors and readers.

Legal Foundation of Washington

The Legal Foundation of Washington will present the 2013 Charles A. Goldmark Distinguished Service Award to Judge Anne Ellington at a luncheon Friday in Seattle. Ellington retired from the Court of Appeals Division I last fall. Her 40-year career includes working in the Attorney General's office, being the first woman selected a King County Superior Court presiding judge, serving on the Appellate Court and working to ensure equal access to courts for people with disabilities.

Geary

Western Washington University named Edward Geary director of the Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Program. Geary succeeds George “Pinky” Nelson, who has retired. Geary was program director for the Division for Research on Learning in Formal and Informal Settings with the National Science Foundation.

Stoel Rives

Portland-based law firm Stoel Rives opened a satellite office in Washington, D.C. The new office is headed by firm partner Greg Jenner, a former deputy assistant secretary of the U.S. Treasury for tax policy.

Western Fairs Association

California-based Western Fairs Association board of directors elected Kent R. Hojem as president for a one-year term. Hojem has worked at Washington State Fair since March 1996 and as CEO since January 2005. The nonprofit trade association serves the fair industry in the Western United States and Canada.
