The U.S. Chamber of Commerce said Chris Eyler will be executive director of the Northwest Region, and represent the chamber in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming. Eyler was education counsel on the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, and has 15 years of experience as a legislative assistant.
Demand Media of Kirkland, a media and domain services company, hired Steve Banfield as senior vice president and general manager of Registrar Services. Banfield leads Demand Media's two registrar businesses: Name.com and eNom.
Seattle-based Culture Foundry has added senior-level developers Jeff Lindermeier in Boulder, Colo., and Roberto Santiago in the Portland office. Both have extensive experience. Culture Foundry says it creates technology that “connects people with transformative experiences.” Clients include Crosby Stills & Nash, Bonnie Raitt, The Kentucky Derby, Esalen Institute and Kosta Browne Winery.

Cairncross & Hempelmann added a new associate: P. Bryce Counts. He will focus on corporate finance and business transactions with an emphasis on clean tech and emerging tech companies. Counts was an associate at the corporate law firm Beacon Law Advisors.
The Washington State Bar Association presented retired Solicitor General Maureen Hart with the 2013 Angelo Petruss Award for Lawyers in Public Service. Judge Sharon Armstrong and Judge Laura Inveen won Outstanding Judge awards. Seattle attorney Phillip H. Ginsberg received the Professionalism Award and QLaw Foundation's GLBT Legal Clinic received the Pro Bono Award, along with Seattle attorney Brian Buckley. Spokane attorney Jacob Brennan was named Outstanding Young Lawyer. Seattle attorney Karen Murray won the Public Service Award and Chelan County Superior Court Judge T.W. “Chip” Small won the Norm Maleng Leadership Award. Spokane attorney Carl Maxey posthumously won the Courageous Award. Seattle attorney Donald L. Madsen won the Lifetime Service Award.

REI will hold a grand opening this weekend at the new Silverdale store. The store is at the intersection of Northwest Randall Way and Myhre Place Northwest.
VendScreen, the Portland-based inventor of a smart device for vending machines, named John Archer president. He has a 20-year career in the tech field with both RadiSys and Intel. He joins founder Glenn Butler who is CTO, Rich Dietz CFO and John Hironimus CSO. The device uses an Android operating system and 3G wireless technology for over-the-air updates of information, advertising and promotions.
The research and analytics firm Blueocean Market Intelligence said Shannon McGuire has joined the Seattle company as vice president of client development to help them use data analytics, market intelligence and social intelligence. He has consulted with Fortune 500 firms about data synthesis, dashboards and data visualization.
