Sound Cities Association elected Redmond Mayor John Marchione president. SCA represents 36 cities in King County that are home to nearly one million people. Renton Mayor Denis Law is past president.
Bellevue-based Outerwall announced three leadership moves at Redbox, Coinstar and ecoATM. Mark Horak, most recently Americas president at Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, will become Redbox president March 17. Coinstar operations executive James H. Gaherity will become president of Coinstar, replacing Mike Skinner, who has decided to leave the company after nine years. Maria Stipp, former chief new ventures officer and interim president of ecoATM, is now president of the ecoATM business.

AlphaCipher Acquisition Corp. of Seattle, which does business as Vadium, named Kim Holmes senior vice president for product development. He was vice president of engineering and operations for Hammerhead Systems. Tilo Kunz is the new senior vice president and chief business development officer. He has been in information security since 1984 and has worked in the Soviet Union, China and India, as well as Hollywood. Rick Bolin is senior vice president for sales and marketing.
Symetra Life Insurance Co. made changes in the benefits division sales team. Jeff Farmer has been named national sales director, Group Life and Disability Income Insurance. He is based in Norcross, Ga. Symetra has segmented the medical stop-loss sales distribution channel into two regions. Regional Vice President Thomas Costello will manage the Eastern region from Boston. Chicago- and Bellevue-based Regional Vice President Thomas Bittner is responsible for the West/Central region. Bill Edrington will lead distribution of the Select Benefits fixed-payment indemnity insurance.

Kent's assistant finance director Paula Barry was named interim finance director. Barry, a 16-year city employee, will oversee the 33-employee department while the city seeks a permanent replacement for Robert Nachlinger, who retired last month after 10 years.


Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson has named two new principals. Adrienne Finnell's practice focuses on complex marital dissolutions. Justin Sedell's practice concentrates on divorce, child custody disputes, collaborative law and high conflict litigation.
IID, a cyber security firm in Tacoma, is expanding its executive staff. Ben King will be the first CFO, Merike Kaeo is the first CISO and Mark Foege is the vice president of marketing. The firm has a cyber intelligence collaboration platform called ActiveTrust that enables enterprises and government agencies to share cyber incident data in real time. King was the CFO and COO at PhaseOne Communications. Kaeo has served as IID's security evangelist for the past year. Foege worked at Townsend Security.

Susan Sutherland has been promoted to oversee the Seattle Branch Office of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. She is senior vice president, human resources and statistics, and director of the Office of Diversity & Inclusion. She succeeds Mark Gould, who was appointed first vice president and chief operating officer. The Seattle branch serves financial institutions in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, northern Idaho and Hawaii.


The Fearey Group public relations and public affairs firm has hired Meredith Hickman as account executive and Susan Alder as life sciences senior consultant, and promoted Alex Fryer to director of public affairs. Adler was executive director of the Northwest Association for Biomedical Research. Hickman was with Waggener Edstrom. Fryer joined the firm in 2013 after nearly two decades of communications and journalism experience.
