Woodland Park Zoo named Michael Friedline vice president of development. For the last seven years, Friedline ran his own consulting company advising nonprofits and colleges on fundraising and communications. He was senior development executive at the Museum of Flight and Evergreen Hospital.
The small Seattle-based cruise line Un-Cruise Adventures said Tim Jacox will become president and chief operations officer. He has been with the company for 14 years in management and marketing. The company's eight ships cruise in Alaska, Pacific Northwest, Mexico, Hawaii, and Central and South America. Captain Dan Blanchard remains principal and CEO.
Pierce County Executive Pat McCarthy named Ron Klein interim director of the Department of Communications while a search is made to replace Hunter George, who resigned to take a senior communications post with Metro Parks Tacoma. Klein retired last year as Sound Transit's executive director of communications and external affairs.

Bellevue College Foundation named Rebecca Chawgo executive director. Chawgo has been director of development since 2013 and worked at Seattle Opera and other arts organizations.
Sloan Hardin Newman is president of Puget Sound American Marketing Association, replacing Merlin Simpson. Newman is the head of marketing at Fox Plumbing & Heating.
Sun Life Financial, an investment manager and insurance carrier in Canada, is acquiring Prime Advisers, a boutique investment firm in Redmond. Sun Life has made other acquisitions over the past year.
Diane Oakes has been promoted to president and CEO of Washington Dental Service Foundation, effective Jan. 1, 2016. She now is deputy director and will succeed Laura Smith, who will retire at the end of this year.

Stoel Rives partner James M. Shore has been elected a Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Shore represents employers in labor and employment law.
The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges elected Shaunta Hyde as its chair, making her the first African-American woman to lead the board. Dr. Elizabeth Chen was elected vice chair. Hyde is the managing director of community relations at Alaska Airlines. Chen is a retired faculty member from University of Puget Sound.
Frontier Communications of Bothell named Eric List general manager for the Bothell/Lynnwood area. List oversees field operations and sales. He was regional director and general manager at Windstream Communications.
