Seafair

Seafair President and CEO Beth Knox will leave Aug. 31, after 10 years with the organization. Seafair Festival Board Chair David Willis will be interim chief operating officer during a search for her successor. Under Knox, Seafair added the Fourth of July celebration, Rock and Roll Seattle Marathon, and other events to its roster. The nonprofit has 12 full-time staff, 5,000 seasonal volunteers and has more than 160 sponsors/partners.

Veris Law Group PLLC, a Seattle-based law firm, said Alison J. Robinson has been promoted to ownership and Molly Barker joined as a new attorney. Robinson advises clients on environmental and real estate matters. Barker's background is in environmental issues and complex litigation.

U.S. Bankruptcy Court

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit announced the appointment of Christopher M. Alston as a judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Washington. He fills a vacancy following the retirement of Judge Karen A. Overstreet. Alston was with Foster Pepper in Seattle.

Seattle Southside Regional Tourism Authority, the tourism organization for Des Moines, SeaTac and Tukwila, named new members to its advisory committee: Mike Bush, Tiffany Hart, Owen Leinbach, Mollieann Mad, Peter Philips and Raquel Wheeler.

Pacific Crest Savings Bank appointed Edwin “Ed” Hedlund board director of the Lynnwood-based community bank. He was co-president and board director from 1997 to 1999, and recently retired from Washington Federal. Fred Safstrom was named chairman of the board. He is COO at Housing Hope.

Frazier Healthcare

Frazier Healthcare, a provider of growth capital to health care companies with offices in Seattle and Menlo Park, California, said Tadataka Yamada Ph.D. has re-joined the firm as a venture partner on the life sciences team and senior advisor to the growth buyout team. Yamada was chief medical and scientific officer at Takeda Pharmaceuticals in Tokyo and before that was president of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Global Health Program in Seattle.

Port of Ridgefield

The Port of Ridgefield just north of Portland hired Clark County resident Nelson Holmberg to fill a new position: vice president of innovation. Holmberg was executive director at the Port of Woodland and communications manager at the Port of Vancouver, and recently led BergerABAM's public involvement practice in Vancouver. Holmberg will find new revenue streams for the port.

City of Kenmore

The Association of Washington Cities gave Kenmore an award for The Coolest City Hall. Kenmore has won three AWC Municipal Excellence Awards, which recognize projects that improve quality of life, establish partnerships and build community support. Kenmore City Hall was completed in 2010 and has a LEED gold rating. Weinstein A|U was the architect and Graham Contracting was the general contractor.

Downtown Emergency Service Center

Daniel Malone is the new executive director of the Downtown Emergency Service Center, which serves chronically homeless adults. Malone has worked at DESC for 26 years, and was its first director of housing programs and deputy director. He succeeds Bill Hobson, who has just retired.
