TrueBlue

TrueBlue, a provider of workforce solutions in Tacoma, has acquired the workforce efficiency firm Simos Insourcing Solutions. Atlanta-based Simos provides on-premise staffing for several Fortune 500 companies that are using contingent labor to increase performance. Tim Sims founded Simos in 2003. TrueBlue's workforce group includes Staff Management|SMX, Centerline and PlaneTechs. Simos will continue to be managed by President and CEO Kelly Carlson.

Pavia Systems

Pavia Systems, a Seattle software company specializing in the transportation infrastructure industry, hired Gary Lane as vice president of sales and marketing. Lane has 15 years of experience in computer software, and was director of subscription sales at Autodesk and managed subscription programs for a $300 million business. Pavia was founded in 2005. Products include apps for project inspection, pavement design and online training for public agencies, contractors, manufacturers and materials companies.

Esterline Corp., a specialty manufacturer for aerospace and defense markets, appointed Michael J. Cave to the board of directors. Cave is a former senior vice president at Boeing. His term will expire in 2017.

Top Pot Doughnuts

Top Pot Doughnuts and Coffee will open its first Tacoma cafe soon in Proctor Station, and now plans to open a second cafe next spring in The Village at Chambers Bay in University Place. It will sell doughnuts, coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Top Pot was founded in 2002 in Seattle, and now operates 20 cafes.
