Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, a labor and employment law firm representing management, has expanded in Seattle with the addition of shareholder Russell Buhite and of counsel Sonja Fritts. Buhite focuses on insurance and benefit issues. Fritts has practiced labor and employment law for her entire career. The firm has 800 attorneys in 51 international offices.
The Reston, Virginia-based company tiag has expanded to the Pacific Northwest with a new office in Renton at 1201 Monster Rd. S.W. It will focus on mobile platforms and software development. The firm said it already has customers in this region including state agencies, cities and universities. tiag stands for The Informatics Applications Group. It offers management consulting and technology services.

HomeStreet Bank hired Joe Jornadal as vice president and relationship manager of commercial lending for the Seattle area. Jornadal has been a commercial lender for over 12 years in this region. He will be working from the Bellevue Commercial Lending office at 500 108th Ave. N.E.
Frazier Healthcare Partners, a provider of growth capital to health care companies, expanded the investment team by promoting Philip Zaorski and adding Ryan Lucero to the Growth Buyout team. Zaorski joined Frazier as an associate in 2012. Lucero was with Kohlberg and Co. in New York.

Northwest Kidney Centers hired Kristina Eddy, RN as nurse manager of the Kirkland dialysis clinic. It also named new medical directors for dialysis clinics in Auburn and Renton. Dr. Frank Fung, medical director at Northwest Kidney Centers Auburn, has taken the same role in Renton. He practices at Valley Medical Center's Nephrology Clinic in Kent. Dr. Paramita Mukherjee is medical director of Northwest Kidney Centers Auburn. She also practices at Valley Medical Center's Nephrology Clinic and was medical director at Puget Sound Kidney Centers' clinic in Monroe. Joseph Sutton, RN, is the new nurse manager at Northwest Kidney Centers Enumclaw clinic.
Alaska Airlines board of directors named Charu Jain vice president and chief information officer of Alaska Airlines, and Chris Berry vice president of finance and controller of Alaska Airlines and Alaska Air Group. Jain was with IBM Global Business Services and also worked at United Airlines. Berry joined Alaska Airlines in 2005 as director of financial reporting, and previously worked for Arthur Andersen and KPMG. Jennifer Thompson was named managing director commercial law, associate general counsel and assistant corporate secretary at Alaska Airlines. Sana Gebarin was named managing director of strategy and project management at Horizon Air.

Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson named Robin Williams Phillips its new managing principal. She leads the Employment & Labor Practice Group and has been a principal of the law firm since 1991. Phillips replaces Tara Richardson.

Western Governors University said Dr. Richard Cummins, who has been president of Columbia Basin College since 2008, will lead WGU Washington as chancellor, effective April 10, succeeding Jean Floten, who retired last month. WGU Washington, established by the state legislature in 2011, has 10,000 students, and offers online bachelor's and master's degrees.
Kent named IT technical support specialist Marta Gonzales 2016 Employee of the Year. Hired as a temporary employee in August 2006, Gonzalez worked for four city departments before landing her IT job providing technical and network support for city employees. She was nominated and selected by her peers.
