Alaska Power & Telephone

Bob Engel, CoBank's former CEO, has joined the board of Alaska Power & Telephone Co., an independently owned utility celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. It provides energy and communication services to 40 communities, from the Arctic Circle to Southeast Alaska.

Seattle City Hall

Mayor Ed Murray has named Fred Kiga chief of staff, replacing Mike Fong on Sept. 5. He has worked for five years at Vigor Industrial. King County Executive Dow Constantine announced Fong will become the county's chief operating officer. Kiga also has served as chief of staff to Gov. Gary Locke and in senior positions at Amazon, Boeing and Russell Investments.

Vision Media

Redmond-based Vision Media hired marketing executive Tim McNamara as vice president and general manager of Vision Media's new Oregon office. McNamara was vice president and market manager for Portland's seven Entercom stations, and also worked for the digital agency Adpearance and Paul Allen's Rose City Radio.

Kimura

Chef Itsuroku Kimura will head the kitchen in Crab King Restaurant at Bellevue Crossroads. Originally from Kyoto, he has opened dining venues in Shanghai, Mexico City and Los Angeles. Crab King is at 15600 N.E. Eighth St. in Bellevue.

NOW Environmental Services

NOW Environmental Services in Federal Way hired Barry B. Brown as environmental training director. Brown has 18 years of experience in the field and previously was safety manager for Amazon in Seattle.

Bellevue LifeSpring

Bellevue LifeSpring is opening a new store on the third floor of Bellevue Square called Thrift Culture. Thanks to support from the Freeman family, Bellevue LifeSpring's thrift shop is the longest-standing merchant at Bellevue Square, and all the profits help support children living in poverty.

Eastside Health Alliance

David LaMarche was named executive director for Eastside Health Alliance and Eastside Health Network, the new joint venture and clinically integrated network of Overlake Medical Center and EvergreenHealth. LaMarche has had leadership roles in finance, managed care contracting, health care reform and clinical operations.

Strong-Bridge Consulting

Seattle-based Strong-Bridge Consulting and Denver-based Envision Business Consulting will combine, through a majority investment by Bow River Capital Partners, and offer expanded capabilities and a larger geographic footprint. Envision is a management consulting firm serving the Midwest and Northeast.

Tacoma Public Utilities

Tacoma Public Utilities Director Bill Gaines will retire in December after 10 years leading TPU. He also served in senior executive roles at Seattle City Light and Puget Sound Energy. Gaines was recently elected vice chair of the board of the American Public Power Association.
