Heidi Sexton was promoted to chief operating officer at Sound Community Bank in Seattle. Sexton joined the bank in 2007 and was vice president of operations managing deposit, electronic and lending operations.

HomeStreet Bank of Seattle appointed Sandra Cavanaugh to its board. Cavanaugh, a financial consultant, was CEO and president of U.S. Private Client Services at Russell Investments until her retirement in 2016.

PDI Software acquired DM2, a privately held Vancouver company providing back office automation to wholesale petroleum marketers. Alpharetta, Georgia-based PDI provides software to convenience stores and wholesale petroleum marketers.

Danny Fields joined Seattle-based Avalara as executive vice president of engineering and chief technology officer. Fields held similar roles at MobileIron, a provider of mobile device management and enterprise mobility services, and has 28 years of engineering and management experience. Avalara provides cloud-based tax compliance automation for businesses.

Know Labs

In Seattle, Know Labs appointed Michael Grabham chief business officer. Grabham started six companies over the past 25 years, and has experience in sales, business development and marketing. Know Labs directs structured light or radio waves through substances to capture molecular signatures used for identification, authentication and diagnosis.

Melt Massage + Body

Calli Jo Sawyer opened Melt Massage + Body in the 901 Hildebrand Building on Bainbridge Island. Sawyer is a licensed massage practitioner. Joining her are Haley Espinosa, a Zen body therapy practitioner and structural integration therapist, and Connie Doe, a reflexologist and BodyTalk practitioner. The 1,000-square-foot space was designed by Wenzlau Architects.

Literary scholar and data scientist Matthew Jockers was named dean of Washington State University's College of Arts and Sciences. Jockers is an English professor and associate dean for research and partnerships in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Nebraska. Prior to that, he lectured for 11 years in the English Department at Stanford University. He starts Aug. 1 at WSU.

Empower Clinics

Peter McDonough joined the board of Empower Clinics, a Seattle-based owner and operator of medical cannabis clinics in the U.S. McDonough has more than 30 years of branding and marketing experience, including as president, chief marketing officer and chief innovation officer for Diageo North America.

Rover.com

Rover.com, a Seattle-based network of pet sitters and dog walkers, received $125 million in funds and accounts advised by T. Rowe Price Associates. It also closed a $30 million credit line with Silicon Valley Bank. Much of the funding will be used to expand in Europe, starting with the United Kingdom in July.
