BakerHostetler added Michael Moyer as a partner working on corporate finance, project finance and other complex transactions. Moyer is the first partner in the Business Group to be based in the Seattle office. He comes from Cairncross & Hempelmann, and has more than 20 years of experience as a corporate finance attorney. BakerHostetler has more than 940 lawyers in 14 offices across the country.
Bill Owens, co-founder and executive chairman of Red Bison Advisory Group, joined the board of Know Labs. Owens is a retired admiral. Seattle-based Know Labs directs structured light or radio waves through substances to capture molecular signatures used for identification, authentication and diagnosis.

The Seattle Times promoted Kristi Waite to director of development for public service journalism. Waite joined the paper in 2016 as product manager, and helped develop several email newsletters. She was creative director at Q13, editor in chief of Seattle Refined and a regional digital manager for KOMO.
Seattle Mayor Jenny A. Durkan was appointed vice chair of the U.S. Conference of Mayors' Technology and Innovation Task Force. Durkan will join Mayor Steve Adler of Austin to help mayors address the impacts of technological innovation.
Daniel Greenstein, a director at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will become chancellor of Pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities. Greenstein has worked with the foundation for six years and was a top administrator in the University of California system.
The U.S. Small Business Administration named Banner Bank Regional Lender of the Year for the Seattle/Spokane District and a Star Performer for the Portland District. Banner originated the most loans last year in Washington, approving 170 loans totaling $23.65 million. This is the sixth straight year Walla Walla-based Banner has been recognized by the SBA.

Francis “Frank” J. Pelzer joined Seattle-based tech company F5 Networks as executive vice president and CFO. Pelzer was president and COO of the Cloud Business Group at SAP, and CFO at Concur Technologies, which was acquired in 2014 by SAP.
In Seattle, Madrona Venture Group closed a $300 million investment fund, its seventh. Madrona invests in early-stage tech companies in the Pacific Northwest.
Cathryn Tames received Rite Aid Foundation's Kidchamp Award. Tames is executive director of Children's Developmental Center in Richland. She was recognized for 30 years of helping children with disabilities and other challenges. Rite Aid is donating $10,000 in her name to Children's Developmental Center.
