GEICO

As part of an associate-led effort, GEICO is donating more than $350,000 to charities across the country. GEICO associates nominated non-profit organizations and projects for making a positive impact on their communities. More than 100 organizations were awarded donations. In the Anchorage area, GEICO granted $5,500 in total donations to the Alaska Network on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Alaska Miss Amazing, and Single Track Advocates. GEICO donated $7,500 in community donations in the Seattle area to the American Red Cross and the Tacoma Humane Society.

healtheConnect Alaska

Collective Medical announced a partnership with healtheConnect Alaska, a non-profit statewide health information exchange focused on serving Alaska's diverse healthcare network. The partnership will further several of the state's public health initiatives, including driving quality and cost improvements in healthcare delivery, improving patient transitions from acute, to post-acute and home care settings, and increasing information flow to enable more transparency between patients and their providers. Collective Medical is a real-time care notification, activation, and collaboration platform designed to improve patient outcomes and lower costs.

Clearwater Analytics

F/m Acceleration, a growth platform for boutique, lift-out, and overseas asset managers, announced its formal partnership with Clearwater Analytics, a comprehensive technology platform for investment accounting and analytics. Based in Washington, D.C., F/m Acceleration provides portfolio managers with institutional-grade investment systems, business operations, and marketing support. Clearwater was founded in 2004 and is headquartered in Boise.

Scarlett

Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Denise Juneau announced two new cabinet-level leadership appointments. Keisha Scarlett has been named chief academic officer and will oversee the district's Teaching and Learning Division. Dr. Scarlett is currently the SPS chief of equity, partnerships, and engagement. She is replacing Diane DeBacker, who is leaving to return to her home state of Kansas. James Bush has been named the district's new chief of equity, partnerships, and engagement, replacing Dr. Scarlett. Bush is currently the SPS executive director of school and community partnerships.

Hiya

Seattle-based Hiya and Telenor Norway have announced a new partnership to protect against fraud and nuisance calls. This partnership is Hiya's first with a European carrier. Hiya provides cloud-based, real-time fraud and nuisance call detection to more than 150 million customers worldwide. Telenor Norway is a part of Telenor Group, a telecommunications company across the Nordics and Asia.

Amazon Web Services

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that Star Alliance is moving all of its IT infrastructure to AWS. Star Alliance is working with Tata Consultancy Services, an AWS network premier consulting partner, to migrate all of its data, platforms, and business-critical applications to AWS. The Star Alliance network was established in 1997 as a global airline alliance, and currently offers more than 12,000 daily flights to almost 1,300 airports in 197 countries.

Rite Aid

Rite Aid says it exceeded $2.2 million in overall giving to Seattle Children's Hospital for life-saving treatment, medical supplies, research and charitable care. For over a quarter of a century, Rite Aid and The Rite Aid Foundation have supported Seattle Children's as part of their relationship with 53 Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Combined, Rite Aid and its charitable arm will support CMN Hospitals within Rite Aid's 18-state footprint with over $5.6 million in support this year. The Rite Aid Foundation works with a network of nearly 500 nonprofits, with a focus on underserved and disadvantaged populations and locations.

Amazon

Amazon announced 26 new utility-scale wind and solar energy projects, bringing its total investment in renewable energy in 2020 to 35 projects with over 4 gigawatts of capacity. These new projects are in Australia, France, Germany, Italy, South Africa, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States. Amazon has a total of 127 renewable energy projects globally, including 59 utility-scale wind and solar renewable energy projects and 68 solar rooftops on fulfillment centers and sort centers. Last year, Amazon and Global Optimism co-founded The Climate Pledge, a commitment to reach the Paris Agreement 10 years early and be net-zero carbon by 2040.

Vouched

Seattle-based Vouched announced a $3 million funding round. Led by Flying Fish Partners, the round will accelerate growth of Vouched's identity proofing platform across the banking, fintech and health care industries. Flying Fish is an early stage venture firm providing capital and value-added support to technology companies in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia. Bankers Healthcare Group, a provider of financial solutions for licensed health care practitioners and other professionals, also participated. Vouched is a secure, real-time identity verification AI software. This funding round is expected to allow Vouched to move into the European market.
