Seattle-based AVM Biotechnology, a clinical stage company developing cancer drug AVM0703, announced the appointment of Brian Andersen as chief commercial officer and Pearl Chan as chief financial officer. They will help drive the company towards anticipated commercialization in 2023. Andersen brings over 20 years of commercial experience as a corporate executive, and has experience building companies, launching new products, developing specialty pharmacy distribution networks with patient support programs, as well as generating and executing marketing plans. He has spent most of his career in the hospital, orphan disease and oncology areas of the pharmaceutical and biotech industry, cofounding Vidara Therapeutics and working for companies such as Pharmacia, Dendreon and Horizon Therapeutics. Chan has 25 years of financial leadership experience in the tech industry having built high-performing teams as CFO at PicMonkey and NetMotion Software. These additions to the leadership team are timed with the near completion of the safety portion of a clinical trial in treating “no-option” Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma/Leukemia patients.

Luvera Law Firm has hired Jack Gellatly as an associate. Gellatly will support case work across the firm's personal injury practice areas. Gellatly joins Luvera Law Firm after earning his law degree from the University of California Berkeley School of Law. During his time there, Gellatly served as a summer associate in the Washington, D.C., office of a large national law firm, primarily supporting the commercial litigation practice. He also worked as an extern in the King County Prosecuting Attorney's office. In school, Gellatly was actively involved with the student-led Political and Election Empowerment Project, a pro bono public service organization geared towards voting rights, voting accessibility and democracy reform for historically marginalized and oppressed populations. Gellatly also worked as an intern for Congressman Adam Smith in his district office in Renton, and interned for Senator Patty Murray in Washington, D.C. Seattle-based Luvera Law Firm handles a variety of personal injury cases, including serious injuries and wrongful death caused by commercial and vehicle accidents, medical malpractice, product defects, construction site accidents, corporate wrongdoing, and insurance misconduct.
The PGA of America is expanding the PGA Career Services Department by adding four new recruitment specialists around the United States, including Caleb Hung in Seattle. Hung will support a PGA career services team in the area. His core responsibilities will be to cultivate the next generation of PGA members and golf industry executives by educating them on the opportunities in the golf industry. This includes promoting the pathway to PGA membership and its benefits, as well as the lineup of nearly 2 million jobs that encompass all sectors of the $84.1 billion golf industry. Hung's team will work closely with corporations, universities, high schools, PGA partners and other related organizations and associations to communicate both PGA of America and golf industry opportunities. Hung began working as an assistant golf professional in 2008 at Fairwood Golf and Country Club in Renton, before earning PGA membership in 2013. In 2015, he moved to Overlake Golf and Country Club in Bellevue, where he worked as an assistant professional for three years before transitioning into the role of membership and communications director.

Portland-based Standard Insurance Company (The Standard) announced that Cristi Dayton has been promoted to second vice president of retirement plans strategy and business improvement. In her new role, Dayton is responsible for the business improvement functions in retirement plans including project management, systems support and learning and development. Dayton joined The Standard in 1991, beginning her 30-year career in employee benefits as a premium processor. She also held positions as a disability claims analyst, national accounts claims consultant and later a leadership role in long term disability claims. Dayton then shifted her focus to technology and project management as senior director of information technology solutions and later as leader of the retirement plans program management office. The Standard also announced that Doug Stearns has been promoted to second vice president of application and solution delivery strategic partner management. Stearns will lead management of The Standard's strategic information technology partners who provide application life-cycle management of business-critical systems and deliver solutions for portfolio initiatives. Stearns joined The Standard in 1993 and has held various leadership roles with responsibility for IT infrastructure, solutions and engineering as well as operations. Most recently, he was senior director of IT application solutions delivery.
AuthenticID, a provider of identity proofing and fraud prevention solutions for large enterprises, announced it is establishing a Donor Advised Fund with Seattle Foundation with an initial donation of $250,000 to support non-profit organizations across the country in their efforts to combat human trafficking. Seattle Foundation will manage the distribution of the donation to certified non-profits who are partners in the new All for Humanity Alliance (A4H), a movement established in 2021 by AuthenticID to raise awareness and help fight human trafficking and exploitation. AuthenticID is a purpose-driven company that fights organized crime to stop fraud with its identity proofing and fraud detection technology. Enlightened to the fact that almost all organized crime operations are also involved in human trafficking, the company embarked on a special initiative in 2021, establishing A4H. Gabriela Chavarria is the new executive director of the Burke Museum. Chavarria brings more than 20 years of experience in managing teams of professionals and science programs, influencing policy, developing new scientific collections, and leading scientists in research efforts both nationally and internationally. Prior to her new position at the Burke, Chavarria was the vice president and chief curator of the science division at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, overseeing scientific collections, research, and leading a team of 44 full-time staff members, along with additional staff, interns, and 400 volunteers. Before her work at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, she was senior science advisor and forensic science branch chief at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife National Forensics Laboratory in Ashland, Oregon. Chavarria received her bachelor's degree in biology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and her master's and Ph.D. in organismic and evolutionary biology from Harvard University. Chavarria also serves on several boards and advisory councils, including the American Institute of Biological Sciences, the National Parks Conservation Association, Defenders of Wildlife, The Nature Conservancy of Colorado, and the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In addition, Chavarria was recently named a 2021 American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow for her work in research administration, the intersection of science and policy, and science advocacy.
