Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers

Amy Friederich has joined Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers as national account manager. A seven-year veteran of the hospitality industry, Friederich has worked with Warwick Hotels International, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts. Most recently, she served as a senior sales manager for Stouffer Hotels and Resorts in Seattle. Friederich has also been a member of the Professional Convention Management Association for over two years.

Baron & Company

Jeff Kuklenski has joined the media services department of Bellingham-based marketing communications firm Baron & Company, where he will assist in marketing, multimedia, video, radio, Internet web sites and media relations services. Prior to joining Baron, Kuklenski had experience coordinating and instructing project teams for Habitat for Humanity in Coahoma, Miss. He recently graduated from Western Washington University with a BA in communications.

Electric Lightwave

Electric Lightwave Inc., a subsidiary of Citizens Utilities of Stamford, Conn., has hired Leigh White as sales manager in its Seattle office. White previously served in a similar capacity at MID-COM Communications. Headquartered in Vancouver, Clark County, Electric Lightwave builds and operates digital fiber-optic networks and provides telecommunications services in the Western United States for long distance carriers and corporate customers.

McKnight & Company

Seattle-based public relations and marketing communications firm McKnight & Company Inc. has added Liz Chalmers as controller and B.J. Livingston to its administrative staff. Chalmers will be responsible for overseeing the company's accounting department. Her prior experience includes positions as chief accountant at Jones & Jones Architects in Seattle; consultant at Dominion Lumber in Winnipeg, Manitoba; and portfolio accounting manager for Copley Real Estate Advisors in Boston. Livingston's background includes working administration for the Washington Society of CPAs, Mail-Well Envelope Co. and the Mercer Island Reporter. Prior to that, she was a classroom teacher for various public schools around the country.

Totem Ocean Trailer Express

Totem Ocean Trailer Express (TOTE) Inc., which operates cargo steamships exclusively in the Alaska trade between the ports of Tacoma and Anchorage, has announced a joint venture with Whittier-based small-vessel operation Dojer Ltd. for extended service to Cordova. Dojer will conduct feeder service between Cordova and Whittier, backed by a rail link to Portage and successive rail or highway connections to TOTE's terminal at the Port of Anchorage. TOTE is a privately-owned Alaska corporation with administrative offices in Seattle.

American International Pacific Insurance Co.

Bob Alexander has been named president and chief operating officer of American International Pacific Insurance Co. Alexander joins American International Pacific after 24 years with the Seattle-based SAFECO Insurance Co. Until recently, he served as branch vice president of SAFECO's Redmond branch. Formerly known as American Fidelity Co., American International Pacific has offices in Seattle, Portland and Denver. A member of American International Group Inc., the U.S.-based international insurance organization is one of the nation's largest underwriters of commercial and industrial coverages.

Market Street Computer Systems

Market Street Computer Systems, a Northwest computer systems integrator and consulting firm located in Seattle, has hired Richard A. Van Winkle as vice president. Van Winkle's technical focus is on business re-engineering and client server systems design and integrations. He is responsible for helping Market Street's clients increase productivity and efficiency, while lowering costs, through the application of computer technology and Internet access.

Nobeltec

John Grady, formerly a commercial real estate broker with Cushman & Wakefield Inc., has been named director of marketing for Nobeltec Corp., an Issaquah-based marine software developer. Nobeltec is scheduled to release its first product, a navigation software program for commercial and recreational boaters, in September. Called NavTrek, it will be the first software program of its kind designed for Windows 95.
