Brendan Barnicle has been hired by the investment banking firm of Olympic Capital Partners as an associate. Formerly with the law firm of Bogle & Gates, he specialized in corporate finance and intellectual property law. With Olympic Capital, Barnicle will assist in the management of client assignments and performing due diligence activities.
Penny Taylor, regional vice president of TCI Media Services, has been named 1995 Person of the Year by the Seattle Chapter of the American Marketing Association. She will be honored at AMA's annual "Marketing & Media Hall of Fame" awards program. At TCI, Taylor is responsible for all ad sales operations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. She oversees the work of more than 400 advertising personnel in all of the Northwest's major markets.
Janell Steffey has joined Pacific Technologies, Inc. (PTI) as a consultant. PTI is a Bellevue management consulting firm that specializes in developing business-driven technology plans and providing related implementation services.

The Seattle Chapter of the American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultants (ChFC) announced that Starbucks Coffee Company will be presented with the American Business Ethics Award. The presentation will be at the Seattle Chapter of CLU & ChFC monthly breakfast meeting at the Bellevue Conference Center on Friday, April 26.
Cho Yang Line announced that a new weekly container service linking the Pacific Northwest to the Far East will begin weekly westbound sailings on May 2. The new service, designated PDM, will sail out of Seattle and serve Tokyo, Osaka, Pusan, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong and Singapore. The addition of the Seattle service in combination with Cho Yang's weekly two-way round-the-world service brings to five the weekly direct, all-water sailings between the US and the Far East.
Megan Barnes has been promoted to account executive at Sorensen Roberts & Hansen(SRH). Barnes' current account assignments include Providence Health Plans and Web site marketing client, Northwest Nexus. In addition, Lesley Tarabochia, a former intern with the company, has been hired as an account administrator. SRH, a strategic marketing communications agency since 1983, is focusing its business development efforts on Internet services, with a specialty in NetNurturing.

Deanna Wilson has been named Director-Quality by Expeditors International of Washington, Inc. She is responsible for the reporting of more than 20 ongoing measurements which quantify Expeditors' service performance, the service evaluations of the company's global vendors and its customer surveys. Headquartered in Seattle, Expeditors is a global logistics company. The company offers air and ocean freight forwarding, supplier consolidation, customs clearance, cargo insurance, distribution and value-added logistics services.
Dr. Wade C. Boyd was promoted to vice president-timber for Longview Fibre Company. Boyd's responsibilities include overseeing Longview Fibre's eight tree-farm operations in Oregon and Washington, with other duties involving log sales, the company's Leavenworth solid-wood products plant, and representing Longview in various forest-industry activities.
