Holaday-Parks, Inc.

Steve Hanson and Joe Gehr have joined the staff of Holaday-Parks, Inc. Hanson joins the design/build division as project manager, and Gehr the plan/spec division as project manager/estimator. With facilities located in Seattle and Fairbanks, Holaday-Parks, Inc. ranks as one of the largest mechanical contractors in the region , specializing in commercial and industrial heating, ventilation and air conditioning, sheet metal, piping and plumbing systems, electronic control systems and engineering.

New Vision

Mike Gregory has been selected to serve as the Yakima County Development Association's New Vision's Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) development manager. Gregory previously served as research manager for New Vision, and will immediately begin work on development of a marketing plan for the FTZ. A Foreign-Trade Zone Conference will be held in September to provide information about the benefits from FTZ operations, potential applications for businesses, and services that New Vision will offer to local companies.

SPoT Bagel Bakery/Bruegger's Bagels

SPoT Bagel Bakery has sold their two retail locations in Wallingford Center and on Boston Avenue on Queen Anne Hill to Bruegger's Bagels. Bruegger's will convert the Wallingford Center location in to its 15th Seattle-area bakery. Currently, Bruegger's operates over 340 bakeries throughout the U.S. The Seattle-area plans are for five more stores by the end of the year, with bakeries in Madison Park and Kirkland. Now focusing exclusively on wholesale, SPoT Bagel plans expansion of its fresh product line into other markets. Currently, SPoT boils, bakes and delivers its bagels fresh daily to over 250 locations.

Public Television Digital Alliance

KCTS/9-Seattle, Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) and WETA/Washington, D.C. have joined together to form the Public Television Digital Alliance. The goal of the alliance is to accelerate the implementation of digital television (DTV) for public broadcasting. The major activities of the alliance will be demonstrating DTV to the public, stimulating production and acquisition of programming tailored for digital broadcasting, working with manufacturers to develop equipment requirements for public stations to deliver digital television, developing marketing and promotion plans for DTV and providing expert assistance to other public stations as they make the transition to digital.

1996 GalaByte Games & Auction

The Washington Software Foundation (WSF) will host the 1996 GalaByte Games & Auction on Saturday, Sept. 4th from 6:00 p.m. to midnight at the Sheraton Hotel Seattle. The event will include an international food buffet, a live and silent auction of some of the world's most glamorous items, and global game entertainment created by ENTROS. Tracey Conway of "Almost Live!" will preside as Master of Ceremonies. Tickets are $85.00/$125.00 (patron level) for individuals and $850.00 and $1,250.00 (patron level) for tables of ten. The WSF is the charitable trust of the Washington Software & Digital Media Alliance. The organization was formed in 1993 to close the technology gap for students, teachers and parents in communities at risk. The foundation funds community projects such as: college scholarships at select Washington universities coupled with internships, after-school and evening computer training for children and adults, and training for developmentally challenged students for work in Washington's software industry.

Wells Fargo/Seattle Public Schools

Wells Fargo Bank has contributed $100,000 to the newly created Leadership Training Institute, a program set up to train all of Seattle's public school principals with the knowledge and skills they need to be effective leaders of their schools. The Leadership Training Institute will be an independent organization under the umbrella of the Alliance for Education, a joint project of the Alliance for Education, the Seattle Public Schools, and business leaders in the region. Through its Charitable Contributions Program, Wells Fargo Bank seeks to invest in the communities in which it does business. A major focus of the bank's grantmaking is kindergarten through 12th grade education.

Dave Erickson of West Seattle has joined Lynnwood Mortgage Corporation's Northgate Branch. With five years of experience, Erickson will be a senior loan officer. He joins the company from U.S. Bank. Prior experience includes six years as a realtor.

Hagen, Kurth, Perman & Co.

Darren H. Maxfield, CPA has been promoted to supervisor in the Tax Department at Hagen, Kurth, Perman & Co. In addition to his general business consulting services, Maxfield is a member of the Health Care Services Group. He works with physicians and medical groups on tax, financial and retirement planning issues. He is also responsible for overseeing and reviewing the preparation of individual, partnership, corporate and retirement plan tax returns.

Art Anderson Associates

Art Anderson Associates was named as one of Washington State's "Best Companies To Work For" for the fourth consecutive year by Washington CEO Magazine. The company has diversified from a US Naval ship design company into the fields of architecture, civil, mechanical and electrical facilities design, as well as other commercial markets in ship design.
