Toll Free Cellular

Toll Free Cellular has hired Denise Olivier as controller and Agustin Smith as billing manager. Olivier will be responsible for overall financial accounting activities, development and management of accounting staff, and ensuring tax compliance. She will also direct all budget and financial planning as the company begins its nationwide expansion this year. Smith will develop and maintain billing systems, and oversee customer billing. Based in Seattle, Toll Free Cellular is launching the nation's first toll and airtime-free service for cellular telephone users.

Lane Powell

Helen McDonald has joined the Seattle firm of Lane Powell Spears Lubersky LLP as an associate. She will concentrate her practice in employment law.

Kvichak Marine Industries

Kvichak Marine Industries of Seattle has delivered seven new Bristol Bay gillnetters, exceeding its production run of 1995. Kvichak made some changes to this year's production, including re-engineering the boat for computer-controlled plasma cutting to ensure construction precision and consistency. The new design now packs 20,000 pounds of fish "under the boards."

Karr Tuttle

Karr Tuttle Campbell has added Walter "Gene" Barton as an associate. He will practice in the firm's business, corporate finance and litigation departments. Prior to embarking on his legal career, Barton was a journalist with the Bend, Ore., Bulletin for 12 years.

Alaska SeaLife Center

John Hendricks, executive director of the Texas State Aquarium, has been the first executive director for the Alaska SeaLife Center. The $50 million center is a marine research, wildlife rehabilitation and public education facility construction in Seward. It will be the first cold-water marine research facility of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, and only the second such center in the world. It is scheduled to open to the public in May 1998.

City of Mountlake Terrace

The City of Mountlake Terrace has appointed Connie Fessler as the new city manager. Previously she was the assistant director of the support services department of Washington County, Ore. Fessler was selected following a search conducted by Waldron & Company.

The Millionair Club

Mel Jackson has been appointed as The Millionair Club's new executive director. Jackson has an extensive background as an administrator, planner, fund-raiser, board member and community activist. Previously he was the director of public affairs and communications at Bates Technical College and served as director of the Department of Human Development for the City of Tacoma.

Cinnabon

Cinnabon World Famous Cinnamon Rolls has promoted Stuart Young to executive vice president for development, and has named Kern Gillette as chief financial officer, a new position at Cinnabon. Previously, Young served at vice-president for real estate and the company's design and construction department. He will now take on broader corporate development and strategic responsibilities and continue to lead the company's real estate, design and construction. Gillette will be responsible for Cinnabon's financial planning, treasury, accounting, auditing, controlling, and purchasing. Most recently, he was the chief financial officer for Reese Brothers. Based in Seattle, Cinnabon is the leading cinnamon roll bakery retailer in North America with more than 325 company-owned and franchises bakeries in 35 states, Canada and Mexico.

Clean Air Systems, Inc.

The Board of Directors of Clean Air Systems, Inc. have appointed Randall Dodd as president, and Kristin Shriver as general manager. Based in Bellevue, Clean Air Systems, Inc., is a full service distributor of Honeywell Indoor Air Quality products for Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska. The company also distributes the Micro Air line of industrial air quality products, and Tri-O-Zone activated oxygen/ozone generators.

Pacific Crest Securities

Pacific Crest Securities has added a health care research group to its equity research department. The addition of the group reflects the rapidly growing interest among investors in companies involved in health care and related industries. The group will provide analysis of health care, medical products and medical technologies companies. Kate Sheridan will head the group and will be joined by Ryan Rauch. Pacific Crest Securities provides investment banking services to corporations, financial institutions, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals. The firm has offices in Seattle and Portland.

WRQ, Inc.

WRQ, a connectivity software company, has legally changed its name from Walker, Richer & Quinn, Inc., to WRQ, Inc., effective immediately. The change has been instituted to reduce the confusion of being referred to by both names, as well as reflect the company's growth.

The Hogue Cellars

The Hogue Cellars Winery has installed 13 stainless steel tanks as part of its recent $1 million production facility expansion. The new tanks have a total capacity of 92,800 gallons or 470,186 bottles of wine. By the year 2000, Hogue's 48,000 square foot facility will house 143 stainless steel tanks and 3,400 oak barrels. The Hogue Cellars in the second largest independent winery in Washington state, and distributes wine throughout the United States and overseas.
