Roger Eigsti has been named the 1997 Honorary Chair for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center's Northwest Industry Partnership (NWIP). Eigsti is the chairman and chief executive officer of the Safeco Corporation. The NWIP links cancer research efforts to the community and regional business and industry leaders. The goal of the partnership is to unite these leaders as charitable partners who work together toward a common goal -- eliminating cancer.
Wells Fargo Bank has hired Dean Thorp as it new Northwest Wells Team manager. He will coordinate the company's employee volunteer efforts in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. Wells Fargo, which merged with First Interstate Bank in April of this year, is the nation's 9th largest banking company. Its Northwest Division includes 347 branches throughout Washington, Oregon and Idaho.
Mary Wieth, director of housekeeping for the Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers, has received the ITT Ring of Quality Award. The award recognizes leadership and continuing contributions to process improvement and customer and employee satisfaction. Wieth was acknowledged for her total quality management (TQM) program. Under Wieth's leadership, Sheraton Seattle room attendants conducted TQM projects to research more efficient and cost-effective guestroom-cleaning methods. The Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers is located in downtown Seattle.
Robert Flowers has been appointed to the Washington State Convention & Trade Center (WSCTC) Board of Directors. Flowers is the senior vice president for the division of executive commercial real estate lending operations at Washington Mutual Bank. Phyllis Lamphere has been reappointed to the WSCTC Board. Other members include Frank Finneran, Dorothy Bullitt, Rick Bender, Gary Grant and Albert Rosellini.
Evelyn Davidson of Davidson's Highland Tree Farm has been elected president of the Pacific Northwest Christmas Tree Association (PNWCTA). Also elected were Julie Hoffman, vice president, Hoffman Trees; Don Douglass, Washington vice-president, Treeco; and Mark Sander, Oregon secretary-treasurer, Valley View Tree Ranch.

Tania Le has joined Financial Consulting Solutions Group, Inc. as a staff consultant. She is working on developing a conceptual model for forecasting reserve levels for the City of Bellevue. FCS Group is a management consulting firm based in Redmond which specializes in municipal financial management. The firm offers sewer, water, surface water, and solid waste utility financial planning and rate study consulting for its public sector clients, as well as special cost of service, performance auditing, cost containment, budgeting, and management studies for both general government and other special enterprise funded organizations.
InfoAccess Inc. has hired Mark Craemer as product marketing manager and has promoted Brian Dirking to program manager. Craemer will oversee and execute all marketing activities for both the company's Transit and GUIDE family of products. Dirking will be responsible for managing all development and technical aspects of the product lines. Headquartered in Bellevue, InfoAccess Inc. develops electronic publishing software products.
The YMCA of Greater Seattle has named Christy Lueders as vice president/chief financial officer. She comes to the YMCA with 17 years experience in business and banking, most recently as vice president and relationship manager for U.S. Bank.
Pacific Crest Securities has hired Laura Richardson as a retail and consumer products research analyst. Previously, Richardson was director of research at Lake West Group, a Cleveland-based retail consulting group. Pacific Crest Securities provides banking services to corporations, financial institutions, government agencies, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals.
Westin Hotels & Resorts has announced that it will manage its first property in Guam, The Westin Resort Guam. The acquisition of the property is a result of a recently negotiated contract with MDI Guam Corporation, a Japanese development and real estate company. The 21-story Westin resort is located along Tumon Bay. Westin now manages 19 properties in the Asia-Pacific region.
Nine pieces produced by Hammerquist & Saffel Creative Services, Seattle, have been selected to appear in Creativity 26. Creativity 26 is an annual publication recognizing the best talent in the advertising industry. The pieces chosen are a combination of consumer, trade and public services advertisements.
