Three new members have been appointed to WSU's Advisory Council. Tom Milne, executive director of the Southwest Washington Health District; Vernon Stoner, Vancouver City Manager and Nancy Sourek, executive director of the Community Foundation for southwest Washington, have joined the advisory body which guides the branch campus' efforts to create partnerships with the communities it serves.
Workskiff, Inc., a Bothell-based boat manufacturing firm, marked two significant milestones in December. The firm shipped its largest order to date: nine boats to a Marshall Islands dealer primarily for use by the Ministry of Education in that South Pacific republic. Workskiff also delivered its 300th skiff which will be used as a research platform at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife station in Greenbay, Wisconsin.
The Seattle law office of Perkins Coie has added partners Scott Borth and James Gradel to its Commercial and Real Estate Finance Practice. Borth and Gradel both worked for Miller, Nash, Wiener, Hager & Carlsen LLP before joining Perkins Coie. They represent institutional lenders and borrowers in commercial and real estate financing transactions.
Gail Wikstrom has been promoted to vice president of operations at Portland-based Drake Construction Company. Drake recently changed its name from Donald M. Drake Company to Drake Construction Co.
Richard Parker, senior vice president-production and Longview, has been elected to the board of director's at Longview Fibre Company. Parker is responsible for the company's primary paper and board manufacturing as well as the secondary-fiber production at their Longview used-box and bag recycling plant.
A new ultrasound system, High Definition Imaging, has been added to the radiology department at The Everett Clinic. The new system enhances the ability of the clinic to make better medical diagnoses.
Kathleen Gardner Tansey has recently completed the requirements for Cruise Lines International Association's Cruise Counsellor Certification Program and received her Master Cruise Counsellor Award. Tansey is the vacation department manager at Gateway Travel International located in Tukwila.
United Cerebral Palsy of King/Snohomish Counties has been selected as the Outstanding Javits-Wagner-O'Day (Handicap) Program Vendor by the Defense Industrial Supply Center (DISC) for outstanding achievements in promoting partnership and innovation, increased efficiency, and ultimately saving tax dollars. United Cerebral Palsy has been a longtime supplier of clamp loops for DISC. DISC is a key field activity of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) and supplies vital industrial hardware items to all U.S. Armed Forces around the world.
The Washington Highway Users Federation has named West Seattle Democrat Sen. Mike Heavey as the Elmer Huntley Transportation Legislator of the Year. Heavey was recognized for his leadership and activities in regard to transportation issues regarding the state. The Washington Highway Users Federation is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association dedicated to encouraging the full development of transportation in the public interest.
Centennial Bank has opened its second office in Portland. The new branch, located in the Lloyd District, will be managed by Katherine Willey, vice president; Jeff Perry, vice president and assistant manager, and Greg Oakes, assistant vice president and commercial loan officer. Centennial Bank is a subsidiary of Centennial Bancorp headquartered in Eugene.
Parallel Communications, a Redmond-based integrated marketing communications agency, has added six new companies to its list of clients. The new accounts include Microsoft OEM Marketing, Traveling Software, US West International Systems Group, PTI Environmental, AEI Music Network, Inc., and Computech Systems Corporation.
