Phil Strider has joined Metro Networks, Inc. as vice president/ general manager, Seattle/Portland. Metro Networks is a national traffic reporting service and supplier of local news, sports and weather information to the television and radio broadcast industries.
The M/V Guard, the second of the Voith Schneider propelled Protector-Class tugs built by Freeland-based Nichols Brothers Boat Builders, Inc., for Crowley Marine Services, Inc., has been delivered to Crowley at Nichol's Langley outfitting dock. The tug will be transferred to Crowley's Long Beach station in early April. The Protector Class tugs are being outfitted for tanker escort services, ship handling and docking assistance. Guido Perla & Associates, Inc., provided final design and production engineering assistance to Nichols Brothers in construction of the vessels.
Bellevue-based ST Labs, Inc., a software testing service provider, has opened a new computer game and entertainment title testing lab in Los Angeles. The facility will employ 20 testers to provide outsourced testing services for area companies such as Dreamworks, Activision and MGM Interactive. The new lab is a scaled-down version of ST Labs' 40,000-square-foot Bellevue facility. ST Labs also has labs in Redmond, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Washington Transit Advertising has added Lynn Millard to its sales team as account executive in King County.
The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center has hired Martha Dorn as director of Guilds and Special Events for the Development and Community Relations Division. Dorn previously served as vice president of the western Washington chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
David Van Handel has relocated to Seattle to assume the responsibilities as Crowley Marine Services' manager of customer service for the Pacific Northwest and Northern California. Handel previously was based in San Francisco. Headquartered in Seattle, Crowley Marine provides specialized marine transportation.

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP has named six new partners in its Seattle office; Eric DeJong, Randy Gainer, Lawton Hansell, Greg Kopta, Bill Rasmussen and Bergitta Trelstad.
Brad Wright, former editor of the Business Examiner newspaper, has purchased CM3 Associates, an Olympia marketing/communications firm. The firm will operate under the name of Wright CM3 Associates, which Wright will act as principal and Chuck Fowler, CM3's founder, will serve as senior consultant.
AAA Washington has moved to a new office in Olympia and has upgraded its service in the area by adding a full-service AAA Travel Agency. The new office is located at 2415 Capital Mall Dr. S.W.
Former owners of Made in Washington stores, Jack and Gillian Mathews, are joining forces with two additional partners to launch a new retail gardening concept called The Northwest Gardener. The Northwest Gardener will focus on community involvement, regional gardening and environmental-consciousness, with the store offering garden art from local artists, home products and furniture from local manufacturers, and plant materials from local growers. The first store will temporarily be located at University Village in the former Ernst space, later this summer relocating to a permanent location in the Village. The Retail Group, a Seattle-based strategic design and consulting firm, will be designing the new prototype concept.

Stephen Camp has been named executive vice president of Tradec, Inc., by its founder, president and CEO, Scott Jackson. Camp, formerly vice president of marketing for Unico Properties, will be involved in day-to-day management of the Seattle-based international marketing and public relations firm with a focus on strategic planning and business development. Tradec assists U.S. and foreign companies, agencies and association with international marketing and trade development strategies.
The nation's oldest African American Greek Letter Fraternity has announced the relocation of its 1998 bicentennial meeting from San Diego to Seattle in protest of California's Proposition 209 abolishing state affirmative action. The event will be held July 11-15, 1998 at the Westin Hotel in Seattle.
EVERETT -- Intermec Corporation, a leader in bar code and automated data collection technologies named Mike E. Callahan, Edward J. Borey and John A. DiBartolomeo, as senior vice presidents. Callahan is responsible for overseeing the North American sales and service operations of Intermec. Borey has re-engineered media operations, improved financial performance for the division, and expanded operation capabilities internationally. DiBartolome is responsible for worldwide finance and accounting.
