Cairncross & Hempelmann

The Seattle law firm of Cairncross & Hempelmann have made the following additions to its office. Kevin Raymond, the former Chief of Staff for King County Executive Gary Locke, has joined the firm's Public & Governmental Law Group; Robert Seidel, joins the Business Group as partner; Timothy Woodland, John Stokke and Michael Barber, join the Business Group as associates; Dianne Wright, former Washington State Assistant Attorney General, joins Dianne Daszkiewicz as an associate in the Employment Law Group; Brian Holtzclaw, joins the Land Use & Environmental Law Group as an associate; and William Murphy, a commercial litigator and mediator, and William Carleton III, a corporate and securities law attorney, have been made partners of the firm.

Kirk Johnson has joined the Seattle office of Piper Jaffray Inc., a Minneapolis-based investment firm, as an investment executive.

Holland America Line-Westours

The following management changes have been made at Seattle-based Holland America Line-Westours Inc. A. Kirk Lanterman has been appointed chairman of the board and chief executive officer. He will be responsible for the overall direction of Holland America Line-Westours Inc. Peter McHugh has been appointed president and chief operating officer and will assume day-to-day responsibilities for all marketing, sales and operational activities. Holland America Line-Westours Inc. is a subsidiary of the Carnival Corporation.

Gretchen's of Course

Gretchen's of Course, a Seattle-based catering, floral and express lunch and breakfast provider, has appointed Tracy Edelson as operations manager. Her responsibilities include office and facility management, computer administration, telecommunications and purchasing management. Gretchen's of Course is a division of Schwartz Brothers Restaurants.

Wilmer Communications Group

Linda Wilmer has joined the Wilmer Communications Group (WCG) in Seattle as senior account supervisor. Rick Jones has been promoted to account services manager. Headquartered in Seattle with satellite offices in San Francisco and Hawaii, WCG provides comprehensive marketing services to the hospitality industry.

AK Media/Airport

AK Media/Airport, the airport advertising division of The Ackerley Group, has hired John Backstrom, Jr. as regional sales manager. Backstrom will lead the company's sales efforts in the eight-state western region, encompassing 21 airports throughout Alaska, Hawaii, California, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Northwest Hospital

Northwest Hospital, a not-for-profit hospital located in North Seattle, has added Bruce O'Neill to the hospital staff as a physician specializing in internal medicine and nephrology. Dr. O'Neill's new practice is located at the Wallingford Medical Clinic and is the latest addition to Northwest Hospital's growing network of affiliated physician practices and clinics.

Peak Technologies Inc., a Bellingham-based maker of Internet performance enhancement products, announced the appointment of Carl Conti, former IBM senior vice president and general manager of IBM Enterprise Systems, to the board of directors. Conti originated the concepts of modern cache memory. Conti joins recently elected board members Tom Williams, former senior director, Technology Investments, Canadian Maple Leaf Financial Corporation, and product manager, New Media and Entertainment at Apple Computer, and William Baker, chartered accountant (CPA) and consultant, who directs operations at Peak.
