Winmar Company

The Winmar Company, Inc. has promoted Kathy Mackey to assistant vice president. Mackey will be responsible for a variety of real estate properties in development and redevelopment, as well as be a part of Safecare Company, Inc., where she will be involved with the management and development of assisted living and nursing home properties. Winmar Company, Inc., is a subsidiary of Safeco Properties, Inc.

Lynnwood Mortgage Corporation

Donn Costa, president, and Dennis O'Leary, chief financial officer, have been named to the newly created board of directors of Lynnwood Mortgage Corporation (LMC). They join Charles Ainslie, founder and chairman of LMC, on the board.

Pacific Medical Clinics

Pacific Medical Clinics' Cross Cultural Health Care Program has received a $453,600 grant to duplicate its program at other organizations around the nation. The two-year grant will be used to create training videos, an Internet Web site and teaching curriculum for other health care organizations and professionals.

Small Business Administration

David Giuliani, president and CEO of Optiva Corporation in Bellevue maker of the sonicare sonic toothbrush, has been named the 1997 Washington State Small Businessperson of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).

City of Bellevue

Larry Southwick, assistant director of Utilities for the City of Bellevue, was named "Top Ten Public Works Leader of the Year" by the American Public Works Association (APWA).

Housing and Human Services

Pamela Piering has been appointed as the director of the Seattle-King County Division on Aging at the City's Department of Housing and Human Services (DHHS). Piering will oversee a comprehensive system of services for older people in King County, ranging from health care, chore services, senior centers, employment, transportation, meals, case management and the Mayor's Office for Senior Citizens.

Lumbermen's of Washington

Lumbermen's of Washington, Inc., a chain of retail building material centers in Washington, Oregon and Arizona, has promoted John Johnson to district manager for their stores in Arizona.

Tully's Coffee

Tully's Coffee has named Ann Wilson as corporate merchandise manager. Her responsibilities include buying product and creating visual displays for merchandise in Tully's stores.

Price Waterhouse

The Seattle office of the certified public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse LLP has made the following promotions: Sarah Kingma, Karin Blair, and Melissa Kibler have been promoted to senior manager; Amy Gamble, Kathleen Glass and Mike Irwin to manager; Alex Hayes and Jonathon to principal consultant; Greg Davis, Robert Reid, Layne Virgin and Cameron Way to senior.
