Acordia Northwest

Jay Soraka has joined Acordia Northwest's Seattle office as an account executive/vice president. Acordia is a network of companies that provide insurance brokerage, employee benefits, workers' compensation programs, managed health care, consulting and other health control services.

Trans-Ocean Products

Trans-Ocean Products, a surimi seafoods manufacturer and marketer based in Bellingham has announced the appointment of Rick A. Dutton to the position of president. Dutton has been vice president and general manager at Trans-Ocean since 1985.

State Transportation Commission

Former mayor of Winslow Alice Tawresey of Bainbridge Island has been elected chair of the Washington State Transportation Commission for a term beginning June 30 and ending June 30, 1998. Former Chelan County Commissioner Tom Green of Wenatchee has been elected vice-chair. The commission serves as the board of directors for the Department of Transportation.

Clothier & Head, certified public accountants, announced that Kathleen Aken and Jeffery Taylor have been promoted to manager; Randall Faber and Scott Pernaa to supervisory senior accountant; and Reisha Busby, Carri Owsley, Marc Sprute and Cherry Yueh to senior accountant.

Steve Minor has joined G.R. Baron & Company as executive vice president. The firm is a Bellingham-based marketing communications company.

Seattle Symphony

Alice Kaderlan has been named director of public relations for the Seattle Symphony.

Caribiner Communications

Watts-Silverstein and Associates (WS & A), a Seattle-based business communications and digital media production company, has been acquired by Caribiner International and will act as the Seattle office of Caribiner Communications. WS & A's digital media consulting and production staff will form the core of a new venture, Caribiner Digital Media Group (CDMG). Bruce Silverstein, executive vice president of WS & A, will act as the senior vice president and general manager of Caribiner Digital Media Group. Charlie Watts, WS & A's president, will be the vice president and creative director of Caribiner Communications in Seattle, and Cindy Krueger, vice president of WS & A, will act as vice president and general manager.

Emerald Downs

Marie Connelly has decided to step down from her positions of vice president-general manager of Northwest Racing Associates and Emerald Downs, to pursue personal interests. Her position will not be filled, but the responsibilities will be distributed among vice president Jack Hodge, vice president of marketing Ben Cambra and Bob Fraser, who has been promoted to director of operations.
