Philip Talmadge, a Washington State Supreme Court Justice, has joined the Providence Mount St. Vincent Foundation Board of Directors.
Weber Marketing Group (WMG), a Seattle-based integrated marketing communications agency, has hired James Hutchins as vice president of marketing and has promoted Becky Lister to vice president of operations.
Patti Crome has received the 1997 Terin Guinn Management Leadership Award for her work as an administrative director at Virginia Mason Medical Center.
Marco Shipyard Seattle has been awarded a contract to build a 90' (27.4m) classroom vessel for the Marine Science Institute in Redwood City, Calif. The vessel will have a capacity of 149 passengers. The non-profit organization will use it to conduct classes for up to 70 children. Young students will take day trips to explore the ecology of San Francisco Bay, from microbes to sharks.
The Customer Support Consortium, an alliance of 80 technology companies whose mission is to shape the future of support by developing new strategies, business models, and industry standards, has added the following companies as members; Ernst & Young, Molloy Group, SystemSoft Corporation, Speedware, WilTel, QAD, and Crossroads Software.
Longview Fibre Company has promoted Jerry Kilgrow to manager of the Yakima Container Sales District. He replaces Ellis Ratcliffe, who is retiring after 47 years with the company. Kilgrow will be responsible for managing the sales of corrugated containers produced at Longview's large Yakima plant to customers in eastern Washington, eastern Oregon, the Columbia Gorge, and western Montana.
The Washington State Department of Revenue's web site now includes the new business record database. Visitors can search for a business by name and obtain its registration number, address, the date it opened for business and closed, and the type of business by Standard Industrial Code. The site is located at http://www.wa.gov/dor.wador.htm.
Eric Anderson, president of Art Anderson Associates and board member of the Economic Development Council of Kitsap County, has been appointed to a two-year term of the Puget Sound Regional Council's (PSRC) Transportation Policy Board.
The Seattle Times has made the following promotions in its Operations department, Doug Ranes will act as the new manager of the North Creek Plant in Bothell, and Kathy Hunter will be the plant manager at the Fairview site.
The Washington Public Power Supply System's Executive Board has elected Louis Winnard as chairman and Rudolph Bertschi as vice chairman. Edward (Ted) Coates, has been reelected secretary, and Vera Claussen as assistant secretary.
