John Kydd has joined the Seattle law firm of Helsell Fetterman as of counsel. Kydd specializes in family law and children's rights, and will head the firm's Family Services Group, an integration of attorneys from the firm's Family Law Department and Business Department.

Seattle-based Primus, a developer of problem resolution software and services, announced that Nortel (Northern Telecom), a global supplier of digital telecommunications equipment, has purchased and begun deployment of Primus SolutionBuilder. SolutionBuilder is problem resolution software that makes it easy for support analysts to capture and share solutions.
Robert George has been appointed treasurer and controller of Esterline Technologies. Located in Bellevue, Esterline is a manufacturer of engineered products for the commercial aircraft, aerospace and defense industries; automated equipment for the production of printed circuit boards and metal fabrication; and instrumentation for quality control.

Diana Oreck has been named vice president of franchise administration for Westin Hotels & Resorts. She will be based in Seattle and act as a liaison between all franchise hotels and Westin's corporate office. Westin Hotels & Resorts owns, manages, franchises and represents over 100 hotels and resorts in 23 countries worldwide.
The potential for using the Internet in medical care will be evaluated through a three-year project, "From Bench to Bedside and Beyond." Researchers will build and test an integrated medical information network for physicians in cities, small towns and suburbs across Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho. The network will connect remote physicians to the University of Washington academic medical center, for them to interact with colleagues on patient care, transmit diagnostic images, receive public health alerts and consult with experts via videoconferencing. The study is funded by the National Library of Medicine.
