GOTech

GOTech, a Seattle-based designer of interactive Web sites for businesses, announced its new Internet programming and consulting facility in Seattle and the expansion of its staff. GOTech’s new offices are located in the University District.

Six new employees have also been added, including one executive and five Web technicians.

Glen Byers has joined GOTech as president. Byers recently served as the vice president of marketing and business development for Scott.

Five other employees joined GOTech’s staff: Gabe Brauer as graphic designer, and Sperry Hunt, Ray Diveley, Shawn Stern and Chris Grothkopp as Web developers.

Washington State University

Denney Rutherford, professor in the hotel and restaurant administration program at Washington State University, will receive an award for lifetime contributions to scholarship and research in hospitality and tourism. The 2000 John Wiley and Sons Research Award will be presented to Rutherford in New Orleans at the annual convention of the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education.

QBeo

QBeo, a North Bend-based developer of digital imaging technology, will unveil the newest version of its PhotoGenetics software at PC Expo in New York June 27. PhotoGenetics 2.0, enhancement software for still digital images, is more intuitive than the previous version and makes it faster and easier to enhance pictures. Key features include immediate application of enhancements, real-time previewing and automatic color shift correction. PhotoGenetics 2.0 will be available for Windows and Macintosh as a download or as a CD

The Ackerley Group

The Ackerley Group, a Seattle-based media and entertainment company, announced the hiring of Kevin Hylton as chief financial officer and senior vice president. Hylton was most recently director of finance for Nordstrom. He brings more than 20 years of experience in strategic financial planning, mergers and acquisitions, financial reporting, accounting and information systems to his new position.

The Trade Bank

The Trade Bank has hired Barbara Mitchell as a trade officer and vice president to provide international banking, trade finance and cash management services to importers and exporters in Washington. Mitchell is based in the bank's Seattle office. She is a board member of the World Trade Center and the World Affairs Council, both in Tacoma.

Morton's of Chicago -- Seattle

Morton's of Chicago has appointed Franco D'Amico as general manager and maitre d' of its Seattle restaurant. Prior to joining Morton's, D'Amico served as assistant manager for Morton's of Chicago in Palm Desert, Calif., for two years. He is responsible for restaurant operations and oversees a staff of 40 employees.

Fisheries Information Service

Salmon Bay Communications announced that Fisheries Information Service (FIS) has acquired Pacific Fishing magazine. All six staff members will be retained by FIS. FIS is a commercial fishing business-to-business Internet company founded in 1995 by a consortium of fish producers and dealers in Europe, Japan and South America. The acquisition of the publication coincides with the opening of a new Seattle office that will serve the FIS's interests in North and South America

Cierra Associates

Bryan Boeholt has joined Cierra Associates as associate and project manager. He has 12 years experience in electrical design and project management. His projects include a series of World Lighting Stores, the Eastlake Building and student apartments for Northwest College.

Linda Holte has been hired as senior project designer. She has more than 10 years of electrical and mechanical design and project coordination. Cierra Associates is a Seattle-based electrical planning and design firm.

Reid Middleton

Ralph Petereit has joined Reid Middleton's waterfront group as a senior engineer. Petereit, who recently retired from the U.S. Coast Guard, will manage waterfront design projects for the firm's private- and public-sector clients. His responsibilities will include project management, design and marketing. Based in Everett, Reid Middleton is a civil and structural engineering, planning and surveying firm.

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca has promoted several employees to the position of associate partner.

Carole Kassir-Garcia is a senior designer with more than 17 years of experience. Since joining the firm in 1995, she has worked on several projects for Microsoft Corp., and has worked on a variety of health care projects around the country.

Dave McLean is a project designer and technical designer with ZGF. He is the project architect for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance ambulatory care clinic at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

John Mess is a project manager with more than 20 years of professional experience. He is the project manager for the Amazon.com headquarters expansion in Seattle; the children's therapy unit for Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup; and Overlake Hospital tenant improvements. Zimmer Gunsul Frasca is an architecture, planning and interior design firm with local offices in Seattle and Portland.

ATC Associates

ATC Associates has named Michael Burt as vice president of its Northwest operations. Burt has been with the company for five years and most recently worked as director of Northwest Operations.

He has 15 years of business management experience and since 1991 has worked in the environmental, safety and health industry. He has overseen projects relating to regulatory compliance, training, account management, contract administration, environmental assessment and remediation, and management of asbestos, lead-based paint, and other hazards in occupied buildings.

He is responsible for ATC branch offices in Seattle, Portland, Denver and Salt Lake City, and a satellite office in Wenatchee.

ATC Associates provides services in environmental and building sciences, infrastructure, geotechnical and construction services, information management technology and environmental training.

Casne Engineering

Casne Engineering, an electrical engineering firm with offices in Bellevue and Spokane, has named its board of directors.

The board has elected Bob Casne, founder of the firm, president. A 35-year veteran in electrical engineering, Casne is a longstanding member of the Electric League and Consulting Engineering Council of Washington.

Joe Skinner has been elected treasurer. He manages the industrial department at the firm, supervising power, control and software engineers.

Ken Albinger has been elected vice president of the firm. As manager of the municipal department, he oversees electrical project work for water, wastewater, and solid waste projects.

Terry Stulc has also been elected vice president. For the last six years, he has been the manager in charge of the firm's Spokane office, performing management, engineering and marketing functions. His clients are the water and wastewater and metals industries in eastern Washington.

Curtis Clute has been elected to the board as secretary. He is the manager for the firm's transportation and shipping industry projects throughout the country.

Casne Engineering specializes in electrical and control system services.

Interface Engineering

Vince Collins has joined Interface Engineering as a fire protection engineer. With more than 12 years of professional experience, Collins specializes in high-pile storage, sprinkler protection, and code and seismic consulting on fire and life safety issues.

Stephen Sexton has also joined the firm's fire protection department. Sexton has been in the life and safety field for 11 years. His main focus is the design of sprinklers in commercial buildings, housing, military facilities and marine buildings.

Interface Engineering is a mechanical and electrical engineering firm with offices in Kirkland, Portland and Salem, Ore., and Sacramento, Calif.

Meier Enterprises

Tom Brandon has joined Meier Enterprises to provide project management and coordination of engineering services for educational projects. Prior to joining the firm, he was the executive director of operations for the Pasco School District.

Located in Kennewick, Meier Enterprises is an architecture and engineering firm.

Milbor-Pita & Associates

Kevin Roberts has joined Milbor-Pita & Associates as a senior geotechnical engineer. Roberts has 15 years of professional experience in geology and geotechnical engineering. He has focused on geotechnical studies involving site development, settlement and liquefaction, slope stability and retaining structures. Roberts was previously with Terra Associates.

Based in Bellevue, Milbor-Pita & Associates specializes in geotechnical, tunnel and geo-environmental projects.

Ridolfi Engineers

John Meyer has joined Ridolfi Engineers as an environmental project manager. Prior to joining the firm, he was an environmental engineer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Rob Spafford has joined Ridolfi as a senior civil engineer and manager of the Coeur d'Alene field office. He has 20 years of experience as a facilities engineer with the U.S. Forest Service.

Ridolfi Engineers is a civil engineering and environmental consulting firm that provides natural resource restoration and evaluation, environmental protection, waste management and scientific consulting services. The firm has offices in Seattle and Coeur d'Alene.

InData Group

InData Group of Redmond announced it has been awarded the state contract to distribute video for the State of Washington Department of Corrections.

The initial project to install a $600,000 Cat5 and fiber optic video network at the Stafford Creek Correctional Center in Grays Harbor is the first of a six-year effort to bring multimedia educational resources to prison training officials. The company plans on opening an new office near Olympia in July.

The Silver Company

The Silver Company, a Seattle-based public relations agency, announced that Ann Revell-Pechar has been named of counsel to the firm and will provide strategic and advisory services to the company and its clients. Revell-Pechar brings 17 years of high-tech marketing experience to the agency as well as an issue-centric approach to public relations. She will act as a consultant and resource on all current accounts as well as potential new business opportunities.

RTSe USA

RTSe USA, Redmond-based developers of custom database-driven websites and applications for business-to-business and e-commerce, announced that the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has purchased 50 Spatial Meta-Data Management Systems and SMMS GeoConnect software from RTSe USA, Inc. The Bureau will use SMMS and GeoConnect to create and share metadata nationwide. The SMMS software package will allow Bureau staff to easily create geographic metadata (data about data) that is compliant with the federally-mandated FGDC standard. The GeoConnect software then Web-enables the metadata for intranet or Internet users.

Publicis Dialog Seattle

Publicis Dialog Seattle announced the agency was awarded a 2000 Silver Anvil Trophy – the highest honor the public relations industry bestows – presented by the Public Relations Society of America. Publicis Dialog was among 39 competitors selected nationwide from a field of more than 600 competitors. The Seattle office received a first place Silver Anvil Trophy in the “marketing consumer products-healthcare services” category for last year’s launch of soma.com, the world’s first full-service Internet pharmacy (now CVS.com).

Alliance for Education

Rodney Wheeler has been named senior vice president for development and community relations of the Alliance for Education, a private, non-profit community organization working in close partnership with the Seattle Public Schools to support initiatives that target increased academic achievement by all students. Wheeler leaves behind a 23-year career with the United Way, most recently as vice president of community campaigns for the United Way of King County. In addition to his role at the Alliance for Education, he is president of the Northwest Development Officers Association.
