Atlas Venture, an international venture capital firm with $1.6 billion under management, announces the appointment of Laura Jennings as senior principal. Jennings will lead Atlas Venture's expansion on the West Coast and open a Seattle office for the firm. Jennings joins Atlas Venture after 12 years at Microsoft, where most recently she was vice president of Worldwide Strategic Planning, reporting to company President Steve Ballmer.
Seattle-based attorney Stephen Hansen has been named Seattle regional director for USLaw.com, a provider of legal information and solutions for consumers and small businesses. Hansen is responsible for building and maintaining USLaw.com's affiliate network of solo practitioners and small firms in the Seattle area. Firms in the network provide off-line legal counsel to USLaw.com site visitors.
Pro2Net Corp., a Seattle-based online resource for business professionals, announced the launch of its e-commerce Marketplace at www.Pro2Net.com. The Web site delivers news, research, online continuing education, and now, a marketplace for reselling business-essential products for professionals in accounting, financial services, human resources, insurance and law.
Sports Radio 950 KJR-AM, a Seattle-based all-sports station, has named Tim Liotta program director. Liotta will oversee all station initiatives as they relate to the on air programming of Sports Radio. He joins the station after four years with Sports Radio 550 KGME in Phoenix.
Tacoma-based InsynQ, Inc. announced the departure of D.J. Johnson, the company's chief financial officer, and the appointment of Stephen C. Smith, currently the CFO of ALT Global of Carlsbad, Calif., as acting CFO. Smith brings over 30 years of experience to the InsynQ management team. InsynQ promoted James Leigh to company president. Leigh was director of technical services for InsynQ. The ompany offers critical business applications, delivered via a Web-based Local or Wide Area Network.
Parker LePla, a Seattle-based marketing-based business consultancy, announced new senior-management roles. Founders Lynn Parker and Joe LePla assume the new titles of founder and creative strategies director, while Cheryl Stumbo and Eric Nobis, both are promoted from director to managing director. They will take charge of the day-to-day operations of the firm's two Seattle offices. The promotions let LePla and Parker concentrate on creative and strategic work.
Monty Edberg has joined the Portland office of Berger/ABAM Engineers. The civil and structural engineering firm specializes in building, public works, special structure, transportation and waterfront projects. Edberg has more than seven years of experience in the design and management of both public and private sector engineering projects. His expertise is in water resources engineering. Prior to joining the firm, he worked with Otak and KPFF's Portland office. His projects at Berger/ABAM include the Texas City International Terminals with Stevedoring Services of America and the McChord Air Force Base C-17 Nosedock Hanger extension, an assignment with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Scott McMahon has recently rejoined the firm and is also working in the Portland branch. He has more than four years of experience in civil and structural engineering. His focus is in the analysis, design, and cost estimating of various transportation facilities, including concrete, timber and steel bridges. He had worked for the Indiana-based engineering firm Lawson-Fisher Associates, performing roadway and bridge design and rehabilitation. He is performing on-call contract work for the Washington State Department of Transportation.
Mark Steepy has been named associate at KPFF Consulting Engineers, a Seattle-based structural and civil engineering firm. Steepy, a civil engineer, is working on the retail redevelopment of Kirkland Parkplace and Westwood Town Center. He is also providing site and infrastructure planning on the redevelopment of the 150-acre Satsop Nuclear Power Plant site, as well as site design on multiple Les Schwab Tire facilities throughout the region.
Steepy has recently completed the Quinalt Resort complex in Ocean Shores, KOMO Plaza in downtown Seattle and the SuperMall of the Great Northwest in Auburn.
Carla Goroski has been hired as the new project administration manager at Reid Middleton, a civil and structural engineering, planning and surveying firm based in Everett. Goroski comes to Reid Middleton from Edmonds-based Landau Associates. There, she held a variety of positions, most recently serving as director of finance and administrative services. She brings 13 years of consulting industry experience, managing accounting departments, supervising administrative managers, negotiating and reviewing contracts, and managing technical staff workload.
David Harms has been hired as a project engineer at Roth Hill Engineering, a civil engineering firm based in Bellevue. The firm specializes in municipal utility and street design and construction. Harms has more than 18 years of regional experience in stormwater, water and sanitary sewer systems analysis, planning, design and construction.
Rodney Roberts has joined Roth Hill as construction services manager for the firm's construction administration and observation group. He has more than 20 years of experience throughout the Northwest in construction of civil, municipal and government facility projects.
Three new employees have joined Architects Kubota Kato Chin, a Seattle firm.
Jeffery Ocampo is a returning staff architect assigned to work on a 22-unit condominium at 15th Street and Yesler Way, and phase two of the International District Village Square mixed-use project.
Karen Kyle is a staff architect assigned to Ferin Condominiums, Mercer Island Condominiums and a renovation to Richmond Highlands Community Center.
Graham Yip is a staff architect working on Bellevue Square Condominiums, Mercer Island Condominium, a single-family house and the First Hill Light Rail Station for Sound Transit.
Tom Hille has been named a principal of Integrus Architecture, a firm with offices in Seattle and Spokane. The design manager for the Seattle office, Hille is working on the Terrace Park K-8 School for the Edmonds School District, and White River High School for the White River School District. His background encompasses a wide range of project types including institutional, commercial and housing projects, and extensive research regarding educational architecture. Previously, he worked for firms in Boston and Denver. He was an assistant professor at the University of Michigan and a visiting assistant professor at both the Danish Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and The School of Architecture at the Catholic University of Chile.
Kevin Brown has joined the structural group at Symonds Consulting Engineers, a civil and structural engineering and surveying firm with offices in Seattle and Portland. Brown comes to Symonds from Bill Jenkins Associates in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., where he designed residential structures. Prior to that, he provided bridge design at Harding Lawson Associates in Bellevue. He is currently working on tenant improvements in Key Tower and on retaining walls at Cedar Mountain Bridge.
Virginia Harris has been added to the firm's civil group. With 13 years experience, primarily in the public sector, she is providing civil design on South Spokane Street Viaduct widening.
