He joins Integra Telecom from MCI WorldCom where he was a senior network analyst supporting the local area network/wide area network environment across five offices in Oregon and Washington.

Swedish/Highline Community Hospital

Swedish Medical Center in Seattle and Highline Community Hospital in Burien announced an agreement to work together on an expanded cardiac-care program. Highline has affiliated with the Swedish Heart Institute, which offers cardiac services through partner facilities across the region. As part of the agreement, the two institutes named a governing body known as the Alliance Council. Highline members include Mark Benedum, chief operating officer; Dennis Hansen, cardiologist; and Susan Anderson, cardiovascular alliance director. Swedish representatives are Jay Bohreer, Swedish executive director; Richard Keck, vice president/business development; and Mark Reisman, cardiologist.

Global Partnerships

Global Partnerships, a Seattle-based non-profit private foundation applying businesslike solutions to global poverty is accepting donations that will be directed immediately to earthquake relief efforts in El Salvador. Donations will be transferred to ASAPROSAR (The Salvadoran Association for Rural Health), a Salvadoran non-profit healthcare and poverty relief organization providing aid and medical supplies to victims of the Jan. 13 earthquake. Portland architectural design firm, Thompson Vaivoda & Associates Architects, Inc. has promoted Clark Brockman, AIA and Andre DeBar, AIA to senior associates. Brockman was senior project manager for the Nike North Expansion and the Corvallis Osborn Aquatic Center. DeBar heads up sustainable design at TVA and is senior project manager for the Newport Community Center and the Pearl Block mixed-use project and was project architect for the Fox Tower. Seven other employees have been promoted to associate: John Heili, senior project manager for Viridian Place office building and Hoyt Park Condominiums; Joann Hermance, senior project manager for the Nike Athletic Center; R.J. Johnson, project manager for the Pearl Block; Monty Hill, project manager for design development; Ellen Morrison, business manager; Chuck Salvador, quality control manager; and Noel Snodgrass, information systems manager. Thompson Vaivoda has gained a national reputation for corporate campus design. Noteworthy among its corporate campuses under construction is the 1.2 million square foot, North Campus expansion for Nike in Beaverton, Ore., and Ericsson Village. The Nike expansion recently received an AIA Merit Award for design excellence and an honor award for design excellence from the American Society for Interior Designers and the International Interior Design Association.

Tacoma-based Bratrud Middleton Insurance announced that Jon Montgomery of the Tacoma office and Catherine Bakamus of the Longview office, both producers in the company’s financial services division, became shareholders effective Jan. 1. Montgomery focuses primarily on financial services for business clients. Bakamus has extensive experience in analysis, implementation and maintenance of employee benefit programs for business clients.

Advanced Structural Concepts

Mike Tennyson has joined Advanced Structural Concepts as a CAD draftsman. He has 11 years of experience in architectural and structural drafting. He has been involved with larger commercial projects such as schools, casinos, hotels, and hospitals as well as smaller commercial projects. Current projects include: White Sands Condominiums, Yarrow Bay Offices, Starbucks and Albertson’s. ASC provides structural engineering design, investigation and construction phase services for all types of new construction as well as modification of existing structures.

Mulvanny.G2 Architects has promoted Brian Fleener to principal at its Portland office. Fleener joined Mulvanny.G2 in 1996 and has 14 years of architectural experience. He is responsible for operations at Mulvanny.G2's Portland office and is also the team leader for sports facilities, Nike, Sears and Fred Meyer projects.

McGranahan Architects

McGranahan Architects, a Tacoma-based architecture, planning and design firm, announced the addition of Marlena Marshall, who brings 15 years of experience in the construction industry to her role as technical administrator for the firm. She is supporting technical production in all project phases with particular emphasis on the Pierce County jail expansion, Redmond Junior and Senior high schools. Steve Mann will contribute to the firm's design work as an intern architect. A 2000 graduate of the University of Idaho, he has experience in tenant improvements and store planning. Mann is contributing to design development of the new Transportation Trades Building for Clover Park Technical College.

INCA Engineers

Kevin Axt, E.I.T., recently joined INCA Engineers in Bellevue as a design engineer in the transportation department. Prior to joining INCA, he worked for a consulting firm in Richland, performing design for various infrastructure and civil site projects. His responsibilities at INCA include design of large site civil and highway projects. He received his bachelor's of science degree in civil engineering from Walla Walla College.

CG Engineering

CG Engineering announced that Jeff Haynes has been promoted to principal. Haynes has been with the firm since 1998. He will be managing a team of four civil engineers and technicians.

Perteet Engineering

Dan Rude, former deputy director of the Washington State Transportation Improvement Board, has recently joined Perteet Engineering as a senior project manager in the company's South Puget Sound Regional office in Lakewood. Rude brings more than 30 years of transportation engineering and project management experience to the multi-disciplinary engineering firm.

David Evans and Associates

David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA), a professional services consulting firm providing multidisciplinary environmental and engineering services, has hired Cindy Baker, a 25-year environmental professional and program/project manager, as Environmental and Planning Group Manager. Previously, Baker was acting department manager at Berger/ABAM Engineers, department manager for URS Greiner, and supervising engineer for King County. She specializes in environmental analysis and assessments, management and planning, surfacewater management, land use development, engineering design review, and public involvement. Michael Booth, ACIP has joined DEA as a senior environmental planner. Booth previously worked as the senior transit planner at the city of SeaTac. Booth is currently managing private development projects, environmental/permitting work on fiber-optic projects with WSDOT, Jefferson County and private firms.

The Bellevue office of S.D. Deacon has hired Paul Clemetson as chief estimator and promoted Todd Peterson to senior estimator. Clemetson was formerly with Bird Construction and has also served as an estimating instructor for the Associated General Contractors of Washington. He has 15 years of industry experience and holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Peterson has been with the company for nearly seven years. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from North Park University in Chicago.

SmartElectrical

SmartElectrical, an Internet provider of services for the small- to medium-sized electrical contractor, has appointed three construction and Internet industry veterans to its core management team. The team includes Todd Ullom as vice president of sales and marketing, Chad Blevins as vice president of business development and Luisa Recalcati as chief technology officer. Ullom was most recently executive director of sales and business development at BuildNet, a B2B e-commerce firm focusing on the homebuilding industry. Blevins was previously vice president of business development at MagneTek, a maker of electronic power products. Recalcati was promoted from chief architect.
