Harborview Medical Center has appointed Sue Manfredi and Becky Pierce assistant administrators of patient care services. Manfredi will be responsible for acute care, epilepsy, cardiology, gamma knife, neurosurgery, sleep lab, respiratory therapy and transportation. Pierce will oversee critical care service, the burn center, vascular lab and census and staffing management.
Dr. Charles Mock, assistant professor of surgery and epidemiology in the University of Washington's schools of medicine and public health, respectively, has been selected to receive the university's 2001 Outstanding Public Service Award. Mock is being recognized for his work in using the research and technology he has developed as principal investigator for the Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network at Harborview Medical Center.
Hot Pepper, a Portland-based branding agency, has recently added several new staff, including: Karl Mundorff, vice president of sales and marketing; Nick Kern, creative director/production manager; Olivia Thoene, interactive Web developer; and Twayn Williams, programmer and information technology specialist.

WebEKG, a provider of enterprise solutions, has completed the purchase of two technologies aimed at moving the Mount Vernon-based company into software development. The company has purchased both Control Customer, a workflow technology engine product from PreferSoft, and SonicMobility, a software development company specializing in wireless technology.
Joe Allbaugh, director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, announced that Col. Ken Kasprisin has been named regional director for FEMA's Region X, headquartered in Seattle. Kasprisin will oversee operations in Alaska, Idaho, Oregon and Washington

The Seattle law firm of Lasher Holzapfel Sperry & Ebberson has added one new principal and four new associates. Lisa Ann Sharpe has been named principal. Sharpe joined the firm in 1991, and has established a commercial litigation practice focusing on employment disputes. Quentin Wildsmith, Tara Richardson, Eric Hoort and Amy Elmendorf Tucker have joined the firm as associates. Wildsmith will represent Northwest businesses in litigation, mediation and arbitration. Richardson will focus her practice on family law and general litigation. Hoort will concentrate on complex contractual disputes and class action litigation. Tucker's practice will focus on real estate, estate planning and intellectual property.
HomeStreet Bank, a Seattle-based privately owned bank, has hired Dennis Luetke as assistant vice president and branch manager of its Mountlake Terrace bank branch. Luetke will oversee the bank's consumer banking, business banking and consumer lending relations in Mountlake Terrace and Snohomish County.
The Reppond Co. announced that it is changing its name to BenefitPort Northwest. The company was acquired by BenefitPort of Greenwich, Conn., a technology firm specializing in Internet-based employee benefits and group insurance, in December of last year. The company will maintain offices in Bellevue and Yakima under the new name, providing medical, dental, life and disability coverage for companies.
