Lizardtech Software appointed Karen Morley vice president of geospatial imaging. Morley will lead product and market strategy for the Seattle company's software products, including GeoExpress with MrSID and Lizardtech Express Server. Morley joined Lizardtech in 2002.
Pedro Celis, Microsoft SQL Server architect, has been appointed to serve a two-year term on the President's Information and Technology Advisory Committee. The 25-member committee is made up of information infrastructure experts from industry and academia to provide the president with independent advice on advanced information technologies.
James McCullough is the new director of the School of Business and Leadership at the University of Puget Sound. McCullough taught at Washington State University for the last 19 years.
A Memorial Day weekend promotion at Seattle's Museum of History and Industry, and a new store opening in Edmonds will mark Bartell Drugs' 113th anniversary this month. Bartell Drugs has teamed up with MOHAI to offer a reduced admission May 24-26. The 15,000 square-foot store in Edmonds will open May 27 at Southwest 100th and Edmonds Way. Founded in 1890 by George H. Bartell, the company is the oldest drugstore chain in the United States.
Lynne Masland has been appointed to the Council for Advancement and Support of Higher Education District VIII board of directors for 2003-05. CASE provides education professionals with tools to advance their institutions. Masland has directed Western Washington University's Office of University Communications since 1988.

Peg Staeheli was recently appointed to the Seattle Pedestrian Advisory Board by Mayor Greg Nickels. Staeheli is a principal at SvR Design. The 11-member board gives advice on how to improve Seattle's pedestrian experience. Staeheli is currently working with the Seattle Housing Authority, Seattle Public Utilities and Mithun on the High Point revitalization and on the NewHolly and Rainier Vista redevelopment projects.
Seattle Goodwill is hosting its fifth annual fund-raising event June 4 at Benaroya Hall to benefit its education and workforce development programs. The event will honor Boeing with an Outstanding Philanthropist Award and the Washington State Employment Security Department with an Outstanding Community Partner Award. Larry Mayes has been appointed interim director of the King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention. Mayes, who retired from the King County Sheriff's Field Operations Division in 2000, will replace Steve Thompson, who has taken a similar position in Snohomish County. Michael Gedeon was also named to the department as interim chief of administration. Gedeon is currently project coordinator for the county's Juvenile Justice Operation Master Plan.
