Richmond Public Relations

Lori Meyers has been promoted to senior account manager at Richmond Public Relations. She has been with the company for three years as an account manager. Richmond Communications is a full-service public relations agency based in Seattle.

Lane Powell Spears Lubersky

Lane Powell Spears Lubersky named Kay S. Slonim as counsel in its tax group. Slonim will offer property tax refund and reduction services and advice primarily to industrial and commercial property owners in the firm's Seattle office.

Berk & Associates

Brian Murphy has joined Berk & Associate, a Seattle-based policy and management consulting firm. Murphy earned an MBA from the University of Washington where he headed the school's Impact Group which focuses on sustainable business practices.

Habitat for Humanity

Students at The Art Institute of Seattle will assist in designing and furnishing the interiors of two three-bedroom homes for Habitat for Humanity. The two homes will provide transitional housing in a partnership between Habitat for Humanity and St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church of West Seattle. The homes were designed by Olson, Sundberg, Kundig and Allen Architects. Callison Architects created the site design. The 15-member student team has a wish list at Target for donations of kitchen and bath items. It can be found on the store's online registry at http://www.target.com under Habitat for Humanity. Larger donations of furniture and appliances are also welcome. St. John's church can be reached at (206) 937-4545.

Citywide Concierge Center

The Seattle Convention & Visitors Bureau has opened the Citywide Concierge Center on the ground floor of the Washington State Convention & Trade Center. Louis Avery has been named as the head concierge. The center will offer Seattle information, bookings, transportation services and reservations, and it is planned to add a TicketMaster box office outlet. The center was designed by Seattle-based SMASH Design and features a 1962 Seattle World's Fair theme.

Schwartz Brothers Restaurants

Bellevue-based Schwartz Brothers Restaurants named Brian Hedlund to manage Spazzo Mediterranean Grill and Tapas Bar. Hedlund is a regional manager for Schwartz Brothers currently overseeing the Atrium Café and Piazza Italian Café. He helped open all of the Schwartz Brothers Restaurants concepts and currently serves on the Food Advisory Board for the King County Health Department.

Davis Wright Tremaine

Susan L. Fine has joined the national health law practice at Davis Wright Tremaine as an associate and will practice in the firm's Seattle office. Previously, Fine was with the Seattle law firm of Bennett Bigelow & Leedom. Her practice includes advising health care organizations regarding Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, regulatory compliance, and fraud and abuse matters.

Sorrento Hotel

The Sorrento Hotel appointed Brooke Byrne as its social catering manager and named Emily Wyse sales manager. Byrne previously served as catering sales manager for the Golf Club at Newcastle and the Plateau Club in Sammamish. Wyse was formerly with the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle. The Sorrento is managed by MTM Management.

Western Washington University

Arlan D. Norman will join Western Washington University in September as founding dean of the new College of Science and Technology. Norman is professor of chemistry and associate dean for natural sciences at the University of Colorado, Boulder. Last December, Western's board of trustees voted to form two new colleges, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, and the College of Science and Technology. Ronald Kleinknecht was named founding dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences in June.

Alaska Air Group

Glenn S. Johnson has been named vice president of finance at Alaska Airlines and Andrea L. Schneider has been named senior vice president of customer services at Horizon Air. Johnson was senior vice president of customer services at Horizon and previously worked in the finance department at Alaska. Schneider spent the previous 14 years with Alaska, most recently as staff vice president of station operations and cargo services. Alaska Air Group is the parent company of Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air Industries.

Chinatrust Bank

Chinatrust Bank has relocated its offices to 500 108th Ave. N.E. in Bellevue. With the move, the bank has expanded its services from a loan production office to a branch office, offering retail banking and commercial lending. An open house at the new office will be held on Friday, Aug.1.
