Citizens Committee on Pipeline Safety

The Citizens Committee on Pipeline Safety is taking applications for an open position and a reserved seat for an elected official or employee of a city or county government. The nine-member committee was established by the state legislature in 2000 to provide citizen input on pipelines carrying natural gas, petroleum and aviation fuel. University of Washington School of Law

William Covington has been hired to direct the new Technology Law & Public Policy Clinic at the University of Washington Law School. The clinic is associated with the school's Shidler Center for Law, Commerce and Technology. Covington, an expert in telecommunications and government relations, is a former principal for the North Star Group's Seattle office and was previously with AT&T Wireless. The new clinic will handle a combination of technology, commerce and intellectual property issues.

Moss Adams

Cheryl A. Storey has been named a partner at Moss Adams Advisory Services, a consulting division of Moss Adams. Storey has been with the firm for three years and currently heads the hospital consulting services group.

Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center

Seattle Diversity Works! will become a program of the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center in September. Seattle Diversity Works! provides deaf awareness training workshops and on-site sign language classes. The Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center is a nonprofit agency specializing in accommodation issues for hard of hearing, deaf and speech-challenged individuals. The center is funded by the United Way.

Washington State Investment Board

The Washington State Investment Board appointed Theresa J. Whitmarsh as deputy director for operations and Janet M. Kruzel as a new investment officer for private equity. Whitmarsh, who previously served as a deputy director for the state's Department of Labor and Industries, will oversee accounting and budgeting functions at the board. Currently, Whitmarsh is vice president of business development at Solucient, a private sector health care data company in Illinois. Kruzel most recently served as an alternative investment officer for the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System.

Tektronix

Tektronix has appointed Cyril J. Yansouni to its board of directors. Yansouni has been a director of PeopleSoft since 1992 and has served as both chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer at Read-Rite. He has served as vice president at Unysis, president of Convergent Technologies and was with Hewlett-Packard from 1967 to 1986. Tektronix, based in Beaverton, Ore., is a test, measurement, and monitoring company serving the communications, computer, and semiconductor industries worldwide.

K/P Corp.

K/P Corp. has launched a Web site to help parents order school supply kits for 140 participating schools in the area. The site also offers comfort kits/emergency readiness packs that schools keep on hand in case of emergencies. The site is designed to make it easier for parents to buy school supplies. K/P donates one dollar to Kits for Kids, a fund set aside for each school to purchase the supply kits for kids in need, for every kit ordered. The site can be found at 1-2-3go.net.

Willows Lodge

Brett Magnan has been named lodge manager of Woodinville's Willows Lodge. Magnan was previously the lodge's operations manager. He has held prior positions at the Sorrento, the Westin Seattle and the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco. Willows Lodge is managed by MTM Management.

Ater Wynne

Mike Shackelford and Bill Campbell have been reelected to managing partner and chair respectively at Ater Wynne. Both will serve on the law firm's management committee. Newly elected members of the management committee are Greg Struxness, partner and chair of the firm's corporate finance group; and Diane Peters, associate in the firm's business group. Steve Wynn and Greg Harris were also reelected as members of the committee. Ater Wynn has offices in Portland and Seattle.
