VMC

Redmond-headquartered VMC, a subsidiary of Volt Information Sciences, named Glenn Halstead director of support services. VMC specializes in outsourcing solutions. Halstead has more than 20 years experience in product support in workforce capacity planning, customer satisfaction and support delivery. He was a Microsoft director of international product support.

WatchGuard Technologies

Seattle-headquartered WatchGuard Technologies, an Internet security solutions provider, appointed Edward J. Borey chief executive officer and chairman of its board. Founder Steve Moore, who had been interim CEO, will continue to serve on the board. Borey was president of PSC, a provider of data capture technology, and was a vice president at global supply chain solutions company Intermec Technologies.

Epilepsy Foundation Northwest

The Epilepsy Foundations of Oregon and Washington will operate jointly as Epilepsy Foundation Northwest for two years through offices in Seattle, Spokane and Portland. Both are affiliates of Epilepsy Foundation, a national charity dedicated to the welfare of people with epilepsy, a neurological condition that makes people susceptible to seizures. If successful, the joint operation could result in a full merger. No reduction in staffing is anticipated.

Timberland Bank

Timberland Bank, a subsidiary of Timberland Bancorp, will acquire from Venture Bank real estate, branch infrastructure and employees for offices in Toledo, Winlock, Elma, Montesano, Hoquiam, Aberdeen and Panorama City, as well as about $91 million in deposits. The transaction is scheduled to close early in the fourth quarter of this year. Timberland was founded in Hoquiam and has 15 branches in five counties, with a new branch in Gig Harbor.

NeoRx

Seattle-headquartered NeoRx Corp., a cancer therapeutics development company, appointed Jerry McMahon chairman. He succeeds Jack L. Bowman, who retired. McMahon will also continue to be chief executive officer.

Mark Shaughnessy was recently named sous chef of Piatti Ristorante and will help create menus. He was head chef of Coastal Kitchen in Capitol Hill, head chef of Theoz Restaurant and sous chef of Roy's. Piatti is at 2800 N.E. University Village in University Village.

Washington State University

Michael J. Tate was named Washington State University's interim vice president for equity and diversity, and will start in September. The new position aims to increase diversity on WSU campuses, especially among faculty and staff. Linda Kirk Fox will replace Tate as dean and director of WSU Extension for the interim.

Cascade Bank

A new branch of Cascade Bank opened at Kla Ha Ya Village Shopping Center at 1101 Ave. D in Snohomish. Kate Maloney will be vice president and branch manager. Judy Pritzkau is assistant vice president and assistant manager. Jenifer Schwartz is senior financial services representative and Gail Ferrera is a financial services representative. Cascade Bank is a subsidiary of Cascade Financial Corp.

Harborstone Credit Union

Harborstone Credit Union's new three-story building in Hawks Prairie is located at 1445 Galaxy Way N.E. in Lacey. Harborstone Credit Union has 11 locations in Washington state.

Allen Trust

Sharon O. Heth is vice president of charitable services for Allen Trust Co. Heth will assist nonprofits, donors and advisors with management and administer gift plans. Heth, a lawyer, was associate director for Oregon Health and Sciences University Foundation and Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation. Allen Trust is an Oregon-based trust and investment management company with offices in Portland and southwest Washington. It was founded by Stuart B. Allen.

Riddell Williams

Blake Marks-Dias joined the Seattle-based law firm of Riddell Williams to work on litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Marks-Dias was an associate at Stafford Frey Cooper, where he represented plaintiffs and defendants in professional liability and class action cases. Ken Lederman works with condominium owners and environmental groups. He was an associate at Floyd & Pflueger.

Wells Fargo

Erin Danielson of Seattle and Marilyn Metz of Bellevue received volunteer service awards from Wells Fargo for youth work. Wells Fargo will contribute $1,000 to Invest in Youth, an after-school tutoring program, and Youth Eastside Services. Danielson is a sales associate with the Private Client Services. Metz is board president. Youth Eastside Services provides counseling services, advocacy, community education and professional training.
