Lawyers Jennifer L. Jolley and Kyle H. Flindt are new associates at the Seattle office of Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt. Jolley was an associate lawyer at Stratton Ballew in Seattle, counseling clients on copyright matters and contracts. Flindt is an expert in patent preparation. Schwabe offers what it says is the Pacific Northwest's first nanotechnology/microtechnology practice.
Seattle's Zetta Systems, a developer of instant recovery solutions for businesses, named James L. Ornest vice president of sales. With more than 20 years of experience building direct and indirect sales teams at technology companies, Ornest will head expansion of Zetta's products. Zetta develops real time data protection, with instant recovery and storage consolidation solutions.
The Frause Group launched a company blog Web site, thefrausegroup.blogspot.com. It's a place where people in public relations and marketing can trade ideas on topics such as ethics. The Seattle-based company does public relations, marketing and business analysis.

Seattle-based Dinerware, a provider of software for the restaurant industry, appointed Linda Cannon to oversee its sales team in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. She has 20 years of experience in technology and business management, including work at Microsoft Corp. in a developer training group and as owner of the Linda Cannon Gallery in Seattle.
Melissa Nesland is an account executive at the financial services firm Kibble & Prentice. Nesland joins the employee benefits section.
@NewsBriefs Weber Shandwick's Seattle office added new staff and made promotions. Lindsay Bagley, Ann Varga and Tina Conley were promoted to assistant account executives. Nicole Nolte was promoted to account coordinator. New account coordinators are Gudrun Herrmann, Jamie Keller, Heather Opthof and Jaclyn Ruckle. Weber Shandwick is a public relations agency that focuses on technology.
The Port Townsend company Word Salt's creative writing game Baffle Gab was recognized as one of iParenting Media's best new products. Word Salt's games are targeted to schoolchildren and people in adult literacy programs. iParenting is a source of information on parenting, through the Internet, print and radio.

F. Bruder Stapleton was named president of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs, which represents academic pediatric departments in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. It coordinates education for medical students, residents and fellows. Stapleton is pediatrician-in-chief at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, and chairs the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Washington, D.C.-based law firm Tew Cardenas Advocacy Group named Mary Beth Nethercutt partner. Nethercutt will focus on federal government affairs and appropriations. She practiced law in Spokane and Seattle, and worked for the Bush Administration as director of the Office of Legislative Affairs for NOAA. She is married to former Congressman George R. Nethercutt, Jr. (R-WA).
Saint Martin's College named Douglas Michael Astolfi president. He replaces David R. Spangler, who will retire after 21 years. Astolfi has been vice president for academic affairs at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Fla. Saint Martin's is a Roman Catholic co-educational college in Lacey.
