Áegis Living appointed Marika Rausa as executive director of Áegis of Shoreline. Rausa will manage an assisted-living community for seniors, and oversee a resort-style community set to open in August. The new site will be next to the one at 15100 First Ave. N.E. Rausa was executive director of Áegis of Northgate, an Alzheimer's and dementia care community in North Seattle. Áegis has 36 assisted- and senior-living communities in Washington, California, Nevada, Colorado and Kansas.
Daniel J. Bernardo was named dean of Washington State University's College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences. He got a doctoral degree from WSU in 1985 and most recently headed the agricultural economics department at Kansas State University. James J. Zuiches left the deanship in August 2003 and R. James Cook has been interim dean. Warwick Bayly, dean of veterinary medicine, chaired the search committee.
Global supercomputer company Cray added Brian C. Henry as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Henry was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Onyx Software, and chief financial officer of Lante Corp., a public Internet consulting company that focuses on e-markets.
The Northwest Next Leaders Council's has a new board of directors. President is Kyle Diercks, Entheos International; executive vice president is Erika Schmidt, The Frause Group; co-treasurers are Paul Goldberg, Pure Audio and Kip Spencer, OfficeSpace.com; secretary is Anna Liotta, Resultance. Others board directors are Kari Cassidy Diercks, Compendium; Michael Flynn, U.S. Bank; Doug Hoselton, Computer Sciences Corp.; Laura Leist, Eliminate Chaos; Matthew Mason, The Compleat Co.; Roger Reynolds, Coldstream Capital Management; John Rubino, Hadley Green Creates; and Michele Weingeist, Hamlet. Members of Northwest Next Leaders Council are people in business who are under 40.

Seattle-based organization Humanities Washington is changing its president and chief executive officer. Margaret Ann Bollmeier held the post for 10 years, but said she is leaving for Manitowoc, Wisc., to do consulting work for nonprofits. She was with Humanities for 10 years. Bollmeier will be replaced by an interim director. Amanda Swain was an associate director at Humanities Washington and executive director of the Arizona Humanities Council. Humanities Washington works to help improve civic life in Washington.
Bellevue-based National Medical Development has acquired InStar Systems of Colorado Springs, Colo. National Medical named John Wellbank chief executive officer. He succeeds Richard Van Eaton, who will be chief operating officer. InStar provides radiology practice solutions for the diagnostic imaging industry. National Medical develops, markets and runs outpatient medical facilities, including diagnostic imaging centers.
Redmond-headquartered SchemaLogic appointed Michael Rudy vice president and chief operating officer. SchemaLogic's products are used to manage information. Rudy has 20 years of operational management experience, most recently as an executive at Stellent, a content management vendor.

Seattle-based ERA Care Communities appointed Rick Guthrie community director at Ida Culver House Ravenna in Seattle. Guthrie will oversee management and operations at the 90-apartment independent and assisted-living community. He is the former president for both the United Nursing Home and Washington Healthcare associations.
Holland America Line has promoted Kelly Clark vice president and general counsel responsible for managing contract administration, litigation and regulatory issues for its 12-ship fleet and its subsidiaries Windstar Cruises, Westmark Hotels, and Gray Line of Alaska and Seattle. She joined the firm in 2002 as assistant general counsel. William "Bill" Morani, Jr. is the new vice president for environmental compliance programs. Rene Roussel, who held that post, returns to fleet operations as vice president, nautical and compliance.
