Saltmine

Seattle-based Web developer Saltmine hired Eric Totherow and Bryan Nisperos as software engineer developers. Gina Heyer is a controller and Jeff Glasser is an associate project manager. Saltmine offers e-commerce systems development, online branding and graphic design. It has offices in Seattle, Portland and London.

Joey's

A casual dining restuarant called Joey's has moved into space at 901 Fairview Ave. N. in South Lake Union. Jeff Fuller is the president and owner of Joey's, as well as OPM Asian Bistro and Cucina! Cucina! Italian Cafes. The interior seating for 152 people. The outdoor patio offers Lake Union views.

Northwest Suites & Housing Services

Redmond's Northwest Suites & Housing Services has received certification as a Women's Business Enterprise from the Women's Business Enterprise National Council and the Astra Women's Business Alliance. They say the certification allows companies to reach decision makers who seek diversity in suppliers. Northwest Suites & Housing Services offers housing selections, and cleaning and furniture rental services.

Small Business Development Centers

Dodi K. Rode was named associate state director of Washington State University's network of Small Business Development Centers. Rode replaces Brett Rogers, who became the group's state director this year. Rode was operations manager for Eastern Washington University, where she also taught economics. She was also an economic development planner for the Nez Perce Tribe. The center provides counseling and training to business owners.

City of Renton

King County recently recognized Renton's chief administrative officer Jay Covington as Public Official of the Year. He has been with the city since 1990, working on economic development as well as ways to streamline permitting and protect salmon. The award recognizes his work to improve local and regional government services.

Banner Bank

Banner Bank promoted Ryan Murphy to branch manager at its Edmonds branch. Murphy will oversee banking, lending and financial management. He was a personal banker at the Madison branch in Seattle and also worked at Key Bank. Banner Bank is based in Walla Walla.

Molbak's

Molbak's recently opened a cafe at its Woodinville nursery. Everett-based Premium Construction was contractor for the 2,700-square-foot Lowell-Hunt Garden Cafe at Northeast 175 Street and Garden Way. Molbak's has plants and garden products.

State Chiropractic Association Board

Two doctors of chiropractic were recently named to Washington State Chiropractic Association's board of directors, Arlington doctor Shawn Gay and Kirkland-based Brad Ulrich. The assocation has 1,000 members and represents people in the profession in Washington state.

Liberty Northwest

Liberty Northwest added Krista Van Soest as its Washington branch marketing representative in its Bothell office. Van Soest was a customer service representative. Liberty Northwest is a private property, casualty and workers' compensation insurer.

WatchGuard Technologies

WatchGuard Technologies appointed Bradley E. Sparks chief financial officer. Sparks has 30 years of high-tech industry experience. He founded Sunburst Growth Ventures, and was vice president and treasurer of MCI Communications. Seattle-based WatchGuard provides network security.
