King County Council

The Metropolitan King County Council appointed Ross C. Baker as its new chief of staff. Baker had been serving as legislative aide to council vice-chair Larry Gossett. Previously, Baker worked as an attorney and public affairs consultant.

Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt has appointed Joaquin M. Hernandez to its Seattle office. Hernandez is a litigation attorney and previously worked an associate for Marston Heffernan Foreman in Redmond. Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt is a regional multi-service law firm with more than 160 attorneys in Washington, Oregon and Washington, D.C.

La Conner Country Inn and Channel Lodge

Ditas Pyle has been named director of sales at La Connor Country Inn and Channel Lodge. Pyle previously served as director of sales and marketing at Hawthorn Inn and Suites in Arlington.

Plum Creek Timber Co.

CFO William R. Brown has resigned from Plum Creek Timber Co., a national private landowner and wood products manufacturer based in Seattle. He was named president of Green Diamond Resource Co., a Seattle-based forestry company.

South Sound Home & Garden

Lisa Patterson was named editor in chief of Premier Media Group's South Sound Home & Garden magazine. Premier Media Group is a Tacoma-based publishing company.

Seattle-Northwest Securities

Maud Daudon has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board, which develops rules regulating securities firms and banks involved in municipal securities. She is managing director of investment banking, and municipal trading and sales at Seattle-Northwest Securities Corp., a Seattle-based bond underwriter and financial advisor. She also served as deputy mayor for the city of Seattle and CFO for the Port of Seattle.

University of Washington

Robert J. Herbold, managing director of the Herbold Group, has given $1.5 million to the University of Washington Business School to establish an endowed professorship and a laboratory within the school's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. About $1 million will be used to build the Robert J. Herbold Venture Creation Lab. Herbold is a retired executive of Microsoft.
